I haven't been on here in a while, but I thought I'd share something I made recently. I built something to replace my scanmaster and greddy profec B spec II boost controller and to make it easy to see while driving. It shows the AFR of my wideband O2, boost pressure in PSI, and knocksum from the ECU. If I want to see other datalogging parameters in real time I simply turn a rotary knob to the right. If I want to change my boost settings I turn to the left. To make changes, I simply push down on the knob.

Works with all year model 3/S cars (91-93 OBD1), (94-99 MUT) and DSM cars (90-94 OBD1), (95+ MUT) . My friend with his 94 RT/TT wanted one so I spent a few months analyzing the MUT protocol and made it work. It can view Knock, Timing, Fuel trims, etc. Basically anything OBD1 can datalog, MUT can view too.

Because it's two products in one, I can for the first time have this boost controller respond to knock. ie. Lower boost if engine knock is present.

Another thing that worries me if my tune may drift lean when weather changes drastically. It will monitor for knock, and AFR and if it gets too lean with a small amount of knock, it will warn flash the screen red to get my attention and show how much knock was present, the WBO2 AFR number, boost pressure PSI, and RPM. Armed with this four pieces of information I can adjust my tune if needed be.

Temperature can have an influence on boost, so I've made a table that will re-adjust the duty cycle in order to maintain a more consistent boost.

I lose about 2 psi at redline because of my stock catback, this is no longer a problem. At 4000, 4500, etc RPMS, I add more duty cycle to compensate. Now I get steady boost across.

Displays CEL codes in english, no need to have a chart with you.

Earlier video of it in action. I've changed the menus a bit since.

Oh my God, that is AMAZING!

You should get ahold of Tom and Dave at ECMTuning, I'm sure they'd be VERY interested in your product, as well as RTM Racing here in Canada!!!

That is REALLY neat, and for the majority of us that focus on our Tach's when ripping down the 1320, that is a HANDY unit to have!

I'm VERY impressed.

I just got word that 95-96 uses a different way to communicate (MUT over OBD2). MUT only works on 97-99 models for DSM.

In short, 90-94, 97-99 supported. 95-96 out of luck at the moment.

The background display can be changed to "Red, Green, or Blue", so yes Blue is supported.

I have a few units made, contact me by private message. I don't want this thread to turn into an ad. Thanks.

What government organization do you work for? I showed a coworker who use to design electronics with a high up organization, thats what he told me to ask you lol.

Anyways looks awsome!

That is seriously cool stuff!

I was thinking of turning my knock gauge into a bright red light. This goes so far beyond our wildest dreams. Great job getting what you want for yourself because you can tu

Defently an impressive little device. For boost control, it sounds like its just a "global" setting for all gears? What would really sell me on it is if it had gear dependent boost settings. And then also an A & B setting to have two different boost maps stored (ie one for the street & one for the track). If something like that could be made, I'd defently be interested. It would allow me to remove 2 more devices I have, to clean up the interior even further.

I like the fact that you can easily check actual knock amount (would that be kncok sum or deg retard like ECMLink?), coolent temp, inlet temp, etc without having to have a laptop open in the car running. And to top it all off it just looks like a stock display.

Yup, it's a global setting for all gears. I originally designed it to be gear specific (different boost for each gear), but when I discovered OBD1 / MUT2 didn't provide a means for determining car speed, I took it out. It sucked cuz I had all the gearing, final gearing, tire circumference all in there for calculating precisely which gear the driver was in. Few months later I discovered where Mitsubishi was hiding this info, it would require a custom OBD1/MUT cable to read the car speed pulses. It can be done, but it's not on my high priority list of things to try.

I did add an Auxiliary input that allows the driver to toggle between two boost settings. My original intention of the Aux input is to drop the Water/Alchy injection to a safe boost level should it ever run near empty. Of course the Auxiliary can be used to either increase or decrease boost, for those traction limited FWD cars.

I use knock sum for the knock value, as it's pretty popular for our platforms.

After Ceddy brought my attention of MUToverOBD2 protocol on 95-96 DSM, I went ahead and researched this, purchased an ECU and got this protocol to work. I now can do MUToverOBD2, MUT, and OBD1 all from the same box. In short, every model supported including the 95-96 models!

Some updates with the new hardware design:

Audible buzzer to alert driver in case of knock threshold is exceeded or engine is overheating.
More colors for LCD display.
Can dim the screen for night time driving.
Datalogging is now possible and extends Hand Held Halo and Evoscan datalogging software with the ability to read Boost and WBO2 AFR directly from ECU request.
Supports 57.6k higher speed datalogging for both HHH and Evoscan.
External connector for connecting 3 bar GM pressure sensor, or 4 bar Greddy pressure sensor.
Larger microprocessor than previous version, supports more program space memory so I can add more features.
Uses an expansion card idea for providing future upgrades, ie, serial datalogger card, bluetooth serial datalogger, or SD memory card.
Supports my OBD1 datalogger cable, allows the microprocessor to enable the OBD1 datalogging cable after the engine has started to avoid seeing the "ABS light" on your dash.

Screen shot of HHH with boost and WBO2 AFR added in.
