Well lets start off with how this all happened, back in the early 90's one of my fathers friends who was an Audi owner bought his first Talon. He came out to show ff his new toy and just so happened that my bf and I were there to go for a ride. We were skate board punks that really didnt care what so ever for cars other than the lambo posters in the lockers and so on. Well a 6grand launch in first gear quickly changed all of that, heads pinned back so hard we couldn't even speak...
this was my intro to fast cars and well both my friend and i have gone on to continue our passions with cars.
I am a VW car guy and always will be as i love ze german approach to cars and have built custom VW's and still currently own a 1992 Jetta TDi with 300 ft lbs of Torque which is a blast to cruise around getting 1000kms per $50 of diesel.
Just happened to be browsing a local for sale site and i come across a 91 TALON TSI the same car that started it all back in 91. This car is unmolested and dealer maintained since day one. My friend is the gm at the dealership and I got the chance to talk to the mechanic that has worked on this car for the last 20 years and lets just say he was shocked that one it was for sale and two that the price was where it was. This guy has not had a squeak that was left unchecked. Every proper fix has been done and there is a new turbo within the last 5 years and the best part in Canada is that it has been rust checked since day one.
Well now I am starting my process of learning how to make things faster with the reliability staying in check.
So on with the learning

pics will arrive once i get back home to the car as i am away for the holidays! Its a great example of what a car can be in Canada when rust check is done every year and the owner is not afraid of throwing money at keeping it in great shape!
There are a couple small things that I need to take care of first head liner falling down (just cloth section not the whole thing) and the 20 year old leather thats showing its age.

Hey Scott i recognize your talon, i have raced against you in auto cross out at Scotia speed world and AMP. Well lets rephrase that I was involved in the races with you up there as a FWD doesn't really put too many awd in their place. I had a two tone blk silver Golf with a screw charger on it that sounded like a fire truck probably 2 years ago last time i raced it.

Well thought I would put up some pics of the progress of the build

Well I am excited to finally report that i have my exhaust in place just about an hour to install with the right tools! My mechanic helping out when needed as its a two person job to hold and get the bolts in place.
The only issue that I had with fitment was there was an old hanger that needed to be removed from the Downpipe area so things would fit and the bolts that they sent along with the kit for the DP could have been 1/4 inch longer for easier install.
The pieces used stock hangers and lined up very easily and nothing at the moment is banging or making any noise.
This is the full system with a Test pipe in place no cat so its a little loud for those that are looking to keep things quiet. Have yet to get it on the highway to see how bad the drone will be. Much more to come

Looking good man...Your cat has HUGE ears

How tight is that flex pipe on the basepan? I had mine rub against the transfer case a bit and it cuased a little vibration, just make sure it's got room to move on each side without rubbing if possible

That's a Savannah right? He's adorable. I want to get a Savannah and a Bengal fairly soon.

And the shell looks damn nice, how are the strut towers?

edit: my exhaust that came with the car wasn't as nice, for some reason, I don't know why, but they have a flange right beside the ujoint on the drive shaft, so during slippery acceleration through a turn or bumpy roads the flange bounces into the ujoint...stops all my winter fun, but something I'm going to change when I get my downpipe made.

It seems to clear just fine with everything and not a single rattle so far and I have hammered it and just let it do it thing and I am very very happy with it. For anyone I would strongly recomend this system.
The whole car is very solid its a fine example of what a car can be when its got 20 years of undercoating on it. Every single bolt that I have taken out of the car has just break the initial hold and you can take tehm out by hand.

Phoenix is a Bengal that was a photo when he was a kitten he is almost 7 months now so he grew into his ears. Amazing cat just hella expensive and curious he gets into everything I order in from Ziggy and everyone else that I have bought things from on here.

Never seen a Bengal with that colour of coat before.

Was there a cattery in NS, or did you have to travel outside the province to get him?

He was bought from a place in Fredericton NB, his orange color has changed to more of a brown now but when the sunshine hits him the pearleccent color of the fur comes out and you get more of the orange again but not like he was when he was a kitten

Yeah thats what they call the house that the cats get to breed the little buggers can cost up to 3000 for a show quality cat. Not too much for a dog but most people are shocked when it comes to cats at this price range.
They are from a mix of a real Asian leopard and a domestic cat then after about 4 gens out they have a normal domestic cat with some amazing qualities of a Asian leopard

Yep, dogs have kennels cats have catteries.

The cat breeding world is just as lucrative as the dog breeding world, but just isn't 'advertised' as well. Cats can have a pedigree too.

And if you think 3k is bad, there is a hypoallergenic cat with the same markings (rosests) that sells 22k. They are made specifically for people who are horribly allergic to cats. The hairless cats, sphinx's, can still be problematic as it is not the hair that is responsible for most allergies. Majority of cat specific allergies are related to the cat's saliva or skin flakes.

Bengal is an Asian Leopard Cat and typically an Egyptian Mau, but as Jason said, can be several different mates.

Savannah is a male Serval and, again, typically an Egyptian Mau, but can be crossed with different types as well.

Since both are a hybrid breed from a 'wild' cat, the first one or two generations typically have a mean temperament, but further generations become nice and docile, but still retain certain 'quirks'. An example being the Bengal's 'chit-chat' and the love of high places.

Anyways, I'm sure that is way more than most people here want to know about cats smile

edit: since people might be curious - yes there is a breed very similar to a mini-tiger. It is called a Toyger and truly isn't too exotic. It is just a refinement of coats and shapes of domestic shorthair tabbies.

mmmm yes yes, I like where this is going. Now, where might I find one of these 22 THOUSAND dollar cats, preferably a low security house with a easy to kick in door?

Our other tabby has some Norwegian Forest Cat in him. His coat is waterproof and he loves playing with water because he never actually gets wet. He's over 25 lbs! sick

So I was trying to hunt down some weird misfire issue on my car, it would pull fine to redline in 1-3 but not from 4-5???Strange
So I figured start from the beginning and work my way back. I was told that when I bought my car the plugs had recently been replaced (last year or so) so I thought that was safe but lets face it for $20 bucks replace em anyways and know for sure
I also decided that it was also time to do the plug wires as i didn't know when they were last done. I was hoping not to have to move on down the line to the coil packs

Well lets just say I found the culprit While changing the plugs I find this

lets just say I dont even know how this thing was running
Then since it was a fine summers day here in Halifax I also thought time to figure out what was going wrong in the speaker department. My AWD TSI has 6.5 in the rear and 5.25 in the front very strange I thought they were 6.5 all round or 6x9 in the rears as the other option. Oh well having a few speakers laying around helped to remedy this
Well after 21 years of pumping and well lets face it factory never Thumps. Things were wrong
[Linked Image] it you look closely you will see that it was missing the entire surround on the speaker.
Funny this was the one that was still making good noises LOL

It could have been the previous owner.. Is there a boost gauge?
The stock NGK BPR6ES copper plugs (or equiv. design) work best.

Yeah the previous owner never did anything other than what the dealership would do...how the hell the sh!t plugs ended up in there I am searching the work orders now to try to find out. Who the hell uses Champion sparks plugs anyways!! If its Jap then go with NGK
Yeah the BPR6es are whats in there now I tried to find the normal cheap copper plugs but had to get one with a platinum electrode for now i will stay on top of these ones and hell for less than $20 bucks I dont see these lasting in my car for very long until I replace them again. Peace of mind is worth that little bit of expense
