You should also pull the battery and clean the disolved baking soda and 'afro' from the tray underneath and anywhere else it splashed. It is still corrosive.
Tim is right about the vaseline too. Do not use lithium (white) grease or regular grease. The oil in those products separates over time and will seep down between the clamp and the terminal lessening the effectiveness of the connection.
There are some specific sprays you can buy but unless you're doing 30 or so batteries it's not cost effective. Ask your local garage if they'll put a squirt ot two on for you. If you're a regular it shouldn't cost anything.
