hey all,

in the mist of doing a balance shaft delete and I was trying to install the inner balance shaft bearing and the balance shaft bearing snapped open. I actually got in once but I didn't like the position so I took it out and tried again and thats when all hell broke loose!!!.

Now off to pick up new bearings and will try again tonight any tips how to install it? I tried slotting it with the balance shaft but it just slips right through, thats even before it snapped opened. The very first time I put the old bearing behind the new bearing on the shaft and slotted it in and it worked. Now I have no idea how its going to work. Maybe with a new bearing it will be more tighter on the balance shaft so I can hit it in?

any tips greaty appreciated smile

If you are deleting the rear shaft, why do you need the balance shaft bearing for it ?
Oil pressure will be blocked off with the stub shaft.
For the front you can just leave the shaft in to block off oil pressure, but I guess you'll need to push the bearing back in now.

I'm pretty sure he's just using the shaft to put the bearing in.

Just did mine the other night - can't really give you any advice besides line it up as best you can and do it nice and slow. Grease/lube the bearing so it slides in nice and easy! Make sure to tap it in evenly, as well.

Reza- I think we got the orientation mixed up smile

Salomon- thats correct mate using balance shaft to only try and install the bearing. Any recommendations on what tool to use as the balance shaft sucks to try and slot the bearing in.

What Reza said is the best/easiest way to do it, leave the front shaft in place line it up with the marks and silicon the seal to the front b-shaft spacer, then remove & replace rear B-shaft with the Misu 1.6L stub shaft, reasemble without B-shaft belt,.. done.

The front shaft bearings are fed by the block oiling holes, the rear shaft is fed through the oil pump and down the centre of the rear b-shaft to the bearings, incase someone else reads this and doesn't understand
