Does anyone have any experience with those AC repair kits found at Canadian Tire? I am debating using one of these to recharge my AC or taking it to a shop.
As it stands the system is empty so I'm not sure if it just needs a charge or if a leak exists.

Opinions?

Thanks in advance.

Just read the intructions. It's pretty straight forward.

Better than paying a shop smile

I refilled mine last summer. It's still cold smile

Really heh Chris? Does it also seal minor leaks and stuff?

How long does it usually take?

Not sure about the leaks.

Once you get the ac cycling a few times it shouldn't take more than 10-20 min

If you buy the actual "Red Tek Refrigerant Kit" it will come with everything you need, refrigerant, sealer & condiontioner, hose ends ect.,, I just put one in for a friend it cost 39.99 but i get discounts wink , its actually cheaper to find out if you have a leak going this route as oppose to taking it to a shop.

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS before starting, i no i no not a DSM kinda thing to do but..

LOL. You guys kill me, especially you Rob.

I must say though, our club must hold the record for the most threads going completely off track LOL.

Seriously thought, thanks for the help guys, this doesn't sound like a very difficult job to do so I'll make it this weekend's project smile

Some of you MAY want to know: the refrigerant in those cans is simply propane.

I'm not saying don't use it (Europe has been using it as a refrigerant in small appliances for a LONG time). Just thought some of you may want to know. (ie: make sure that evaporator isn't leaking before you light that smoke) wink.

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

Mother of god that's good advice.

I'd probably be holding a smoke in my mouth as I did it.
