Before anyone suggests looking in the search for my answer I just want to make it clear that I already tried that but didn't find anything recent so I decided to start a new one.
I drive a 2GB GSX and 99% of my driving will be on streets so I just want some good tires and I really don't want to pay anymore then 150$ a tire but don't hesitate to suggest something more expensive if you really think highly of them. My current set right now are 225/40/18 Nexen N3000's but are in need of replacement asap. Post away!
Thank you

I'm using BF Goodrich KDW 2's as my street tires. 215/45/17. Got them for around $650 at the end of last season. So far I'm pretty happy with them, good wet traction, good treadwear, very responsive and predictable tire imo. They can be a little noisy at times, but it doesn't bother me at all.

Salomon that sounds like a great deal, did you get them installed down there too? Where did you go? Bought them through Tire Rack @$89/tire. Paid $50 to have all 4 tires shipped to the installer and paid ~$80 for install & disposal/environmental fees, including taxes (no taxes on the tires/delivery through Tire Rack). I got them installed at an approved vendor (Goodyear Tire Centre) in Watertown. I drove over from Belleville one night after work but going to Buffalo/any city over the border works fine an they ship the tires there for you. All in all I paid: Tires - $360 Install/Etc. - $80 Gas to drive there and back - $25-30 Total = $465 Lowest I was quoted here is $160/tire installed PLUS taxes. That equals $723, not including any environmental/disposal fees. Also, tire size I got is 205/50/17, which is stock 17" size for DSMs.

Just be careful when doing this type of stuff....99.9% of the time you get away with it, BUT......IF you hit a customs guy that didn't get laid that morning, you CAN be in a lot of trouble. IF they figure out that you had new tires installed on your car, you are going to owe them a fortune. They way they work it is that you didn't just buy tires, but you attached a car to them. It now becomes one entity, tires with car, and you CAN be made to pay taxes/duties on the entire value of the tires WITH car.....so you could have to pay the taxes on twenty grand..
It also works the other way around. When I bring in a Mitsu turbo, it is made in Japan, and I have to pay duty. IF the turbo is PORTED IN THE USA, it now becomes an AMERICAN made item. The Japanese turbo was the "raw material" for the AMERICAN "ported turbo", so I pay tax only, no duty..

I have Kumho Ecsta SPT KU-31's, they are great, they grip pretty well, and they're pretty good in the wet. Even for FWD. The only thing is the side walls feel a bit soft on (very)hard cornering, but they are 205/50/16 on 6.5's. I have been driving them pretty hard lately since my LSD killed my understeer, and i haven't broken them loose yet. They are just about the same price as the Dunlop star specs, not nearly as sticky, but should last a bit longer. The reviews i read say they are noisy, but i don't find they are too bad. My engine is louder.
Sorry, I'm a Lancer kid.
