Haven't been on in a while. Last I was here my talon was having TPS related issues, but those have long since been fixed. Now however, my heater core is on its last legs, and when I hit the defog I can watch the moisture pump out of the vents (looks almost like smoke, but it's moist) and it fogs the interior of the windshield and side windows. Essentially the car is a death trap to drive at night or in cold weather.

I know it's a hassle to rip apart the dash and get at the heater core. Has anyone here done it who has tips? Best place to source a new HC? Am I better off handing to to a member or their shop and paying to have it done?

Cheers,

-Chromy

If it's the same or similar to the 1g's/galants just take out the glove box and it should be located behind there somewhere. Do you have a service manual?

I do not. From what I've seen on the web the whole dash needs removing.

Just so you're aware: the dash, interior, heater core, ducting, etc is the same for 2g turbo and N/T. So anyone with experience with this procedure on ANY 2g could give relevant feedback. I'm guessing removing the heater core is possible without removing the whole dash but it would still involve crawling underneath and removing a bunch of covers and such. The positive is that you're INSIDE the car, not on the cold, damp ground.

Make sure you drain the coolant before beginning smile
