They are leaps and bounds above where they once were, the early years there were cars that when new put on an alignment rack and couldnt get them pointed straight due to body not being built properly. Since mid 2005 they are coming along and I feel that in the next 5 years they will be where Toyota is today. Their introduction of the Genisis was unreal but at the time of first intro who would have wanted a 45,000 car with no history of ever holding their value. Now that its been around for a bit and the intro of the Coupe they are stepping into the market with two real players but again their percieved value is whats haunting them. These are by far no where near what a Accent is their worlds apart. Most people dont want to own a Hyundai when their no longer under warr.
Their target market is the inepensive market and most people in that market dont spend the money to actually up keep a vehicle like under coating and preventative maintence. They are reactionary customers. Once this shift moves to the Genisis market I am sure that we will see somewhat of a change in the longevity of their cars.
Lets face it most of the Eagle Talons that we own wouldnt be here today if it were not for anal people taking care of a car in the first place.

I had a 2002 Elantra a few years back, constant problems. I've replaced calipers all the way around, and they still seized. The subframe rotted out and had to be replaced despite the fact the car was rustproofed. The ebrake cables rotted out, the high pressure power steering line also rotted out. There were many other issues with it. The service I received at the dealer put me over the edge. I sold it and got a brand new civic. Not one issue, aside from two oil changes last year.

All cars have issues, I bought a Saab Turbo X 4 months ago. It seems like something breakes on it every other week. I've just ablut had it with it!

^^^ Sorry to hear about your Turbo X. I haven't had any issues with my '04 9-3 at all.

I remember back in the day a buddy had a Hyundai Stellar.
Drove it every day like he stole it, and it never failed. Ya it rusted out pretty quick, but mechanically the car was a tank.

My mom had a Civic, rusted out in a few years, engine died, then caught fire, had to be rebuilt, then died again, caught on fire again, got a new engine, same thing after a year or 2.

Cars are just like anything else, sometimes the bad ones sneak out of the plant, but that doesn't mean that the entire company's products are garbage.

You are a wise, wise man.

Just like any other consumer product out there, some brands are better than others, but really it comes down to the specific MODEL and production methods.

My cousin bought an LG fridge for her new place many years ago.

Top of the line they said, so she paid top dollar.

She also bought a lower end model line fridge for the house as well. (3 kids).

That thing has been solid, no problems, but the LG top of the line fridge had problems with the rails from day 1. Design flaw. They had the rails changed out multiple times, since I worked at LG at the time I could provide them.

Now they're stuck with it.

Whoever lets these products out without making doubly sure there are no functionality defects should be fired.

Same goes for cars and their R&D. How are there so many damned recalls? I'm not an expert, but don't they test for these types of things and test thresholds before deciding on which parts to use for a car?

I think if they tested & adjusted everything 100%, the cars would be a lot more expensive. I'm sure there are some corporate rules governing which things get more scrutiny (such as safety & powertrain items) and which can be left to warranty service (minor inconvenience) or out of warranty service (brand quality).

I was watching Top Gear last night and Jeremy couldn't stop talking about the quality of the McLaren SLR compared to other supercars. They left no bolt unturned on that one, enormous R&D and it's reflected in the price.

Im looking at used from the auction. It will be rare to see a frs there and the price would be too high anyways.

Nice, good luck.

Yeah I really like the Genesis. If I was able to come across an extra 5-8 grand for a good down payment on it.. I'd be all for it. Then again that may happen unless a 2g shows up lol.

The new Genesis Coupes got bumped from 210 to 274hp, stock (in the 2.0T form, which is what I'm sure anyone here would get).

They've got 2 main packages now, I believe. The 'R-Spec' or whatever it's called has all the go-fast goodies - Brembos, more aggressive suspension, LSD, etc.

Best part is...a new Genesis Coupe is cheaper on insurance (by a noticeable amount) than a Mazda 3 (not Mazdaspeed 3, just the regular 3, although a MS3 is cheaper on insurance than a regular 3 too, for some reason). This holds true when comparing it to most cars. laugh

Bradley the car was built for balance and definitely is, much better handling too. I still strongly believe that Hyundai is the last place I will go for performance, I tried the 2.0T not to long ago and was really displeased, maybe I should go back now that they have bumped the horse power. My issue is that I like to feel the turbo after owning my Talon and I don't think that is desirable in consumer cars today.

I agree, no turbo = no fun. There will be turbo/super charger kits for the BRX within the first model year.

The hyundai is a good idea just ended up as a heavy pig. I was with one on the track 2 weeks ago, thing was pretty fast, but not what I would call well balanced.

Is that confirmed Bradley, cause I have heard rumours and it does make sense, it is the time frame that I have not heard any official confirmation on when it will be out.

Not confirmed, but someone will figure it out. Subaru is not stupid, they would have made it easy to throw a turbo on there. I'm sure their long term plan is to sell a R-spec version at some point with a turbo, but the aftermarket will beat them to it.

$23k loaded is the cost of a mid level ford focus.

When my DSM gets hit by a truck it's pretty high on my list.

Yeah I hear you there, they did have an sti version at one of the auto shows so they are definitely working on it.
