did nts ever come with eproms?

Yes NT did come with eprom and no if you put an Turbo chip in an NT ECU it wouldn't be the same as a turbo ECU as NT ECU do not support knock sensors... I have both a Turbo Eprom and a NT Eprom ECU I haven't decided if I'm going to run my 4g64 DOHC with a knock senor yet or not... I got both in case.. And will use specially written code for my purposes...

The amplifier or driver stage for the injectors should be different as one car has a resistor pack and one doesn't,

or does that have to do with the impedance of the injectors!?
