Very few Japanese cars of the Sixties had style. Instead they tended to wear the carryover, upright shapes first adopted when the manufacturers copied English cars of the Fifties.

In fact, it’s hard to think of more than handful of Japanese cars of the Sixties that weren’t simply boring to look at. In sports cars there was the stunning Toyota 2000GT – and at the other end of the pricing spectrum, the Honda S600. In between was the Datsun 2000. In sedan-based cars there was the Isuzu Bellet GT – and well, nothing else, was there?

Yes there was – the Mitsubishi Colt Fastback.

You should never get rid of your turbo lancer! You can always just add to your collection smile

If you like that - you will probally really like that authors other articles, both from a tech perspective and from a fun writing style.

He has some great stuff on every imagineable car.. I think he has a dsm'ers heart.

Of course in Australia (where he is) they have skylines, and holdens and other awsome stuff, so I don't think they got the dsm's... he had one evo article on there related to airflow.

I now remember that one of my buddy's father had a "Dodge Colt" that he rebuilded the Cylinder Head. Thing was defenately nice.

My goal is to find an old clunker to play with in the next few years; maybe I should aim for one of them.

Other choise are:

MGB
Datsun 240
Fiat Spider
Austin Healy (sp?)

Datsun 240 is beautiful!

The Healey looks a lot like the cobra. I am hoping to own a cobra one day, but it will probably end up being a kit frown

Kit Cobra are a totally different animals. Assisted a guy that owned one a few years back. Body was made out of Fiberglass, was nicely done but would of not bet my safety onto it.

240 is one of my childhood dreams and would defenately be in a Turbo iteration; mod "A La Giz". 1969 would be the vintage if I could put my hands on one of them.

Fak, forgot to mention; an older Porsche 930. Not a 911T, Targa or other fake wanabe but an older 930 with fatties (Tires) at the back and a big Chin Front Spoiler up front!!!
