I've been out on my SV650 as much as I can. Haven't been able to do any work to it because I've been away, involved in weddings and stuff plus planning my own.
But let me know if you want to ride sometime, I've been mostly just riding to work and back.
I have plans to install new fork springs and cartridge emulators, but the weather has been so good I don't want to take it apart and not have it for a few days. I did put a sexy exhaust on it however.
Also want to take alot of it apart and do a good degreasing/cleaning, lots of hidden road grime etc driving me crazy.
Stay sharp out there, everyone is out to kill you, remember that.
Oh ya my lady has a bike to, just waiting for an oil pan to show up as it was leaking, drain plug was stripped tried to fix it. Had it drilled out bigger and tapped it but somewhere along the line the hole wasn't drilled straight or I tapped it on an angle so the plug won't seal with the crush washer properly.
I've got some friends with cruisers that like to go down to the county etc. I kind of like just taking off somewhere without a plan for a few hours.

I predict you'll drive the DSM less... and less.... Enjoy it! We need to get a group of us together sometime. (LOL... the only thing harder to organize than a group of DSMers would HAVE to be a group of ex-DSMers. :D)
Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

Hey Jay, that's a fine looking bike you got there That was a fun 280k we did, I'm sure we'll get together soon and cruise again; like Steve alluded to, riding is extremely addicting. I'd be down for a group ride but I dunno where the heck beamsville is - they got a lotta twisties out there? Jason, what class were you in? And who was the race organization, SOAR? Since this is a bike thread, I'm posting a lazy, blurry picture of my bike! Enjoy!

Beamsville is about half way between Hamilton and Niagara Falls. some of the roads out here are so good, guys ride from Toronto just to get on them. (Ridge Road, Hwy 8, Pelham/Effingham road in St. Catharines...) You could almost spend the entire day just going from hwy 8, up the escarpment to Ridge Road, then, back down to hwy 8.. etc, and work your way out to the falls.

It's a 2004. I am changing the fork springs because the bike dives too much, too soft. Have some racetech springs that were made for my weight and some cartridge emulators to go with it (which helps dampening acts more like a inverted fork.. if I recall).
Yes the bike is faired like that from the factory, however I am looking for the lower "chin" spoiler which has been discontinued. There is a full fairing available but I don't care for it on this bike. I prefer the semi naked look, I wish I could find the chin spoiler though.
She rides really nice very responsive in the turns, the torque of the twin is amazing, I don't care to go too fast but I like getting there quickly. Sounds mean too. Just got to upgrade those forks and put a few other goodies on and that's all I will do to it likely.

You guys heard of Forks of the Credit Road in Belfountain ? The forks are way over rated if you actually want to ride. If you want to pretty fun ride go to Try This There's not usually any cops. Thats what I thought, the first time I went there. I was like wdf thats it. Now I actually appreciate the road much more. Also this road you sent looks nuts lol. How is it ?

I drive forks some time when I had to my parents house, it is pretty damn short but that whole area is pretty good with a few good roads to drive.

I went with my son around 20 years ago. It was amazing! We stopped at a couple really interesting spots along the way, including a whale watching trip. Funny, I never really thought about it, but afterwards a lot of people asked me if we went around clockwise or counterclockwise....I guess it makes a bit of a difference, whether you are on the "inside" or the "outside" of the road (we went counterclockwise). Afterwards we went down the coast to Virginia to visit some friends. It was my first ever real long distance bike trip, and my son (now 35) and I still reminisce about it...in fact we talked about it on Sunday on father's day. He is thinking about getting another bike, and if he does, I think I can convince him to ride down to the shootout with me next year

What kinda suspension adjustments does the bike currently have up front - preload/rebound/compression damping? Are the current springs progressive or linear? Roughly how big of a guy are you, out of curiousity? edit: did a quick look on kijiji and found this chin spoiler. shipping might be a bit much but it's something!

Ya Jay, we can do 'er if you're up to it. It's a fun ride... give the edges of my tires a little workout I have the best road in Canada for biking in my province. Cabot Trail its unreal loads of turns and super high speeds. Course if you screw up there your gone Jealous

Curious as to how much people are paying for insurance?
People in Toronto around the age of 30.
I know it probably varies greatly depending on coverage, bike, age, etc., but I just wanna get a ballpark figure.
I'm waiting on a quote.

Mark is correct about State Farm.
I'm 40 (ugh!), but just got my bike license this past Februaury.
Bike is a 99 CBR600F4, and I'm paying 750/yr. I don't have confirmation on this, but I believe they will only insure your bike if you also have a car with them. (Worth asking about to find out for sure.)

I only have a bike with state farm I am paying $117 a month they couldn't touch my car rates. I still think its all way too much.
My fiancee pays $45 a month for her bike (little gs500) with TD but she goes through her university alumni program.
Mark - My bike has preload settings, I am really not sure what type of spring the factory spring is considered. All I know is they currently suck and the first thing people do with SV's is upgrade them. I weigh about 183lbs give or take 2 pounds depending on beer intake.
Funny you mention that chin spoiler I bought it and its currently on its way.
