I have a question about this. I know that Mitsubishi ones are not made anymore. There are DSMtuners threads about them being done, and none will ever be made again. Then another one stating that there are maybe 24 left in the Chrysler parts on a thread that ended sometime in 2009. Is this actually true?

The reason why I ask this is because I just ordered some from Chrysler (using the Talon part code) and they said that they do have them and I just have to wait till they actually came in. I was just glad I could replace the horrible looking ones on my car now.

I would be very interested to hear if you get these. What I have heard is that ONE side is available from the Chrysler dealerships (at a MUCH higher cost than the Mitsu ones were), but ONLY that one side. If you get them, please let us know part numbers...

So I had one of my buddies dealing with this for me while I am out of town. I just spoke with him and he told me that he picked up 2 boxes for me, and in them were 2 brand new drip rails still in plastic wrap. I will install these when I get back in town this weekend.

The part numbers were: MB882473, MB882474, and I called the Chrysler Parts dept for this. I paid in total something around $164.xx, but this will make that horrible rusty looking strip brand new again so I am stoked!!

Those are not the original Mitsu numbers I show, but those numbers ARE available. I have ordered a set also, and we shall see if those are the correct parts smile

Yeah these drip rails were shared with like 5 other models of Chrysler vehicles. But they did fit on the Talon according to another thread on DSMtuners, as people bought these up rather quickly.

Is there any reason these can't be sand blasted and powder coated? I'd like to try to fix mine up and possibly set up a group buy at Brightside if Mike gives the ok on it.

That's what most people do actually. Even heard of guys restoring them (removing rust and all the paint) and repainting it with pastidip.

Be interested in seeing if these actually fit when you try to bolt them on. Found a thread on tuners about the above part #'s, but also had a reply that they didn't fit. According to his posted pics, they were in fact different (mounting holes & bend/angle). Though the thread was never updated, if he was just sent the wrong part.

I'm sure powder could be done to these, but from the pics I've seen online, I think plastidip would almost look the same as what they do stock.

UPDATE:

So I just got back home, and these parts although they look almost identical to the ones we have on our cars, they do not fit. They have the wrong bends as you stated. I have a dremel and was thinking about modifying the part to fit by creating multiple cuts where bending wont work, and see if I can get these to fit that way. If not.. its plasti-dip time.. unless that group-buy actually does happen.

I'll fix mine up, post pics, and see if people like the results.

I guess I deserved that smile

Anyone want a deal on some drip rails that don't fit right?
I don't actually have them yet, but assume they will be in my next weeks shipment...

You guys are hilarious. I am also going to do my originals in plasti dip and I'll show pics of what mine look like too. I am still going to keep the parts because they are so similar and see if I can figure a way to make them fit as well.

If you figure out a way, and it works well, I will bring in more, and you can modify them for me....for a fee, of course....

I'll be doing that this week as well as a few other DSM related activities.

Yes, there are a LOT of obsolete parts that are in big demand, the drip rails among the biggest..You can ask almost any price you want for them, and someone will want them bad enough to pay it!

So I took my crappy drip rail off and inspected the potential. No dice, these CANT be powder coated. Too much bonded rubber on them, and you would deform the shape by removing the rubber in order to bake them.

On the up side, I picked up a pair of mint ones from James Karbans parts car tongue

Ooooo', that would be GREATLY appreciated.

I wouldn't know what "good" looked like.

Mine look good, but they leak.
Sunroof lining is something I need as well, I should take a look or go with you.

Please let me know!

If they look good but they leak, take them off, and put some RTV along them and reinstall.
