It is time to replace the fabric on my headliner on
my 1990 eagle talon tsi.
I am trying to keep the car as original as possible.
My interior color is "light quartz", the only color
that came with the optional leather trim.
Anybody know if I can get this color fabric anywhere
or any ideas on how to maintain the headliner original looking ?
Thanks.

LOL, I did not, but I do have to say I am super pumped to do this, I will say this was not one of the "mods" I thought I would be excited for. Can't wait to get it in the car and see how she looks.

Going to spray my dirty ass headliner with black duplicolor vinyl and fabric dye and call it a day. It's a non wear and tear item. My trunk lid turned out perfect and matches the black interior I'm piecing together perfectly.

My headliner is hanging and the last owner had push pins in it, so I have to replace mine.

If I was going for a stock look I would have probably chose black. The colour in my is pretty blah(brownish colour) I think the black was is nicer. If I have material left after the headliner and visors I may just do the inserts in the doors, were they supposed to be matched to the headliner?

Us DSMers and our dirty hands should think about blacking out all cloth interior parts to keep the finger prints off tongue I got paw prints by my sun roof shade from the previous owner, same with on the drivers side visor.

Gross.

See if I got this right !
Remove the back seat to remove the quarter trim,
to remove the center pillar trim, to remove the front pillar trim
to get to the headliner. Really ?
Spray paint may be the only way to match the original color. I wonder if auto interior shops mix to match fabric colors ?
Also, what is this plastic trim tool used to remove the clips ? Do I need to buy one or can I make a tool ?
Thanks,

that sounds right to me! I usually just use my hands or a flat head screw driver. If you really want a tool here is the one you are looking for.

I managed to remove all the trim to expose the headliner.
Now I notice that there are side tabs that go behind
the seat-belt guide rails. Do I need to remove the guide rails or is there enough flex in the headliner to pull out around the rails. I would hate to break the headliner.
Thanks for your help because I am at a point of no return.

I doubt you will find much help here, in Canada we don't have auto seatbelts. Maybe some dsmtuners.com people can help you there.
