Hi guys,

Yesterday I came back from my friend place's and drove 40 minutes without any problem at all. When I was close home I did a little 3-4 pull. When I was in 4th gear...I felt the engine missfire a little bit for 2-3 seconds and then died. I pulled over to the side of the road and the car cranks without any problems but won't start. I can still hear my fuel pump when I turn the key to on. Never had any problems like this before and car always ran great

Please help a fellow out frown

First would be to check if you are getting spark and that your injectors are shooting fuel.

You probably blew off or at least loosened a coupler on your I/C piping. Probably as simple as a big intake stream leak. Certainly start with the simple, obvious things before you move on to any complicated ones.

Two ways, both start out the same.

Remove spark plugs keep them rested on the valve cover or any other area that will allow them to ground.

Way 1: remove the CAS and turn it manually with the car in ign, should see sparks and you should hear the injectors firing and you will smell fuel from the spark plug wells

Way 2: turn the car over a few times and watch for spark, smell the spark plug wells to see if there is fuel in them.

Way 1 is definitely the better way to go but if you are lazy, and don't want to redo your timing, than way 2 works too. I personally would go with way 1 because you can do it on your own and it will allow you to hear everything cause you don't have to listen to the car cranking over.

ok and if I have sparks...that means the coils are good right?

Also when I turn the key to on I get fuel pressure...just checked my FPR

Correct, coils are good.

Fuel pressure is good but if your injectors aren't opening, it isn't going to do you much good.

Mark your CAS posistion to the head before removing it you should be fine without having to adjust timing after

yeah that's a good point, or mark the cas for where the bolts are.

and when I test it I just put the key to on?

Nope, just two bolts that hold it to the head

yes key needs to be in ign position.

ok well...I unplug the battery for 30 minutes and replug. The car started but died. Then it stopped cranking

I looked and my power steering leaked ALL over my alternator

could this cause my problem?

That's not good. Well toss the battery on a charger and try and start the car, if the alt is gone the car should still start, she will just die after a while.

PS fluid will kill the alternator in no time. I know from experience that the car can run off of the batter for a little while but you'll quickly start noticing failures around the cars (gauges, stereo, lights, etc) and then nothing.
You say the car will crank but it wont catch? If your battery can crank the car, then it can run the car. The starter takes a tremendous amount of power and is really the only reason we have the battery (not really but I'm not going to get into that)
Try a fresh battery and see where it goes from there.
