Hey community , hoping somebody could shed some light on a current problem I have. I'm wondering what is the idle wheel width I could go with when purchasing new rims. I have an aftermarket set-up nothing special but decent, Tokico illumina's on all four with eibach prokit springs. Now the stance would be different I think from stock suspension and that's why I'm having trouble with what a safe wheel width would be. My car is in storage and I can't get to it, to look at what my wheels are now. I have a few picked out and all are 8 and 8.5 width , now is that to wide and would rub the suspension ? That's my question , does anybody here have a similar suspension and are running high width wheel ? Your input is valued please help, thanks for reading smile

I wouldn't go past an 8" personally, I think the 8" can rub the tie rod end on a 2g depending on the offset. And on that note, O/S has everything to do with the width you want to run.

check out these links;

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/fre.../286685-will-these-wheels-tires-fit.html

Assuming you have a 2g (as per your avatar), you should find these helpful. I have referred back to the links COUNTLESS times. And still do! smile

ps. I am running an 18x8 +40 with 245/40/18's and needed to shave the rear quarters for clearance. Maybe about 4-5mm and sanded then rocker guard. I also ran into another weird issue running my 18's and the weight for balancing the wheel came off because it contacted the tie rod end. Re balanced, problem solved. Also want to mention I have the EXACT same suspension as you, Eiby pro's and Tokico whites.

Should be able to run either with an ideal offset, which is typically 40mm for a 2g. So depends on what width tire you plan to run. Typically 225-235 is a good size for an 8" rim. Wider rims obviously weigh more & if your not running huge rubber, no real point.

On a side note, my current rims will be for sale in the not to distant future & they just happen to be 18 x 8, 40mm offset grin

Ok I will check it out, I have my heart set on Enkei RPF1 at 17",8" with a 35 offset, what do you think ? Will they fit ?

I had 18x7.5 +35 and 235/40/18's and the rears tucked nicely but the fronts peeked out a tad. I mean, the rim itself, not just the tire. It probably depends on the "lip finish" and mine were a machined lip and they were Racing Hart EVO C3's. I MISS THOSE WHEELS weep

According to Enkei fitment chart, they don't have that spec.

17 x 8 is either 35 or 45 offset. I wouldn't run 45 offset, the combo will look to tucked in like a stock setup & depending on tire size, may rub knukle. If I had to, 35 would be the offset I would chose from those two but that will push the tire into the fender lip. So again depending on tire might have some rubing issues & will likely have to roll the fenders/lips.

They do have a 17 x 8.5 in a 40mm offset. Out of all three options, thats the route I'd pick.

Ok ya sorry I ment +35 I messed up lol. I talked to enkei in the states and they walked me through I few things. The reason I'm getting these ones well is to clear Brembo front calipers. King at enkei said they will clear but wasn't sure about a 2G fitment. So that's why I came on and asked you wonderful guys smile cause i wasn't sure. Thanks though , you guys really came through , cheers!!!! smile
