Well just picked up a twin core rad and twin fan shroud.
My 1991 awd has a vfsr front mount intercooler and I have to say this rad is as simple a fit as they said it would be. Direct drop in. Couple solders and that was that. I've not data log tested it but I would think it's a no brainer that its gonna keep things cooler!! Very happy with this purchase and at that price how the hell could you go wrong.

Curious to see what your temps are like when the winter rolls around. My car overcools like crazy in the winter since I did the aluminum rad.

Yeah it is OEM, and when it finally gets up to temp the car would drop rapidly because the tstat would open.

Is OEM 190*?

I'm running a 160*.. 210 is pretty normal. Then with full fans, it hovers in the 180-190 mark.

Sorry to bring this back out of the resting place but I'm getting pretty hot under the collar.
So my car was recently painted and since then it's been running hot as hell. Like 210 all the time and when data logged it will sometimes just go from 210 right to 205 back and up to 213 nothing inbetween. It's like something's not logging properly.
Secondly the fans will switch on but won't run long enough to bring the car down below the 200 mark what so ever. They only seem to come on briefly but tonight I looked and ensured they came on. Maybe 20 seconds nothing longer.
I could go back to the Hotwire the fans to come on all time but that's not why I bought the twin fans and nice rad.
Am I over looking something? The rad looks clean but maybe it's full of dust from body stuff? From what I know it's the sensor at the bottom of the rad and the connection to the fans and that's all folks. Shouldn't they run right to the 190ish mark? I know it's hotter outside but not that much hotter and tonight I was logging and outside temps are 14 celcious. What should I be looking for? Airlock? Bad sensor?

210 is where my fan comes on. And i have never worried about it. Most fans are set to come on about 98 degrees cel. So 205 to 210 is normal. You dont want to under cool it.

Sorry maybe I should have been more clear within a second the numbers on the data log can go from 205-210 then 213 its like the things not reading properly.
I have just ordered a new thermostat and gasket to replace just in case

Check your wires at the ECT. Maybe they are brittle. Post a log lets see these numbers.

It also wouldn't hurt to clean you fmic and rad fins after all the sanding the car got. I clean them all the time. Probably won't help your issue but i wont hurt either.

Also you definitely wouldn't want them running until 190 ish because you would probably start jumping in an out of open loop.
And like Stephan said 210 is not anything to worry about.

Those wires are definitely something that is know to go bad so I would check them out though, and that connector goes bad too.

I recently got my car down to 203 I beefed up my head shielding and warped my exhaust and got me a snail blanket as well. wink
My goal is to get it in the high 190's.

When I started my thermal war on my under hood temps I was well over 220 frown
I was able to get the car running around 210 209 with some ducting and running the one fan I have all the time.
If a new rad and twin fan set up dose not sort it out I will pull the front end of the car apart and come up with some sort of innovative ducking solution laugh
I will post my findings and solutions laugh
