Hello fellow DSMers.

I figure its about time I make a build thread and show off my beauty now that I am no longer ashamed of it. I picked up my 98 Spyder back in January. When I first got it, it was in pretty rough shape. The top on it was all ripped up, the convertible top frame was badly damaged. The body its self was in decent shape just had a lot of dents and a very hideous body kit on it with a wing at the rear. On top of that I had to diagnose various electrical issues and engine problems(ended up just putting everything back to stock so I could start a fresh build next year). All these issues really didnt bother me as I got the car for a steal. I wish I had the original picture of when I first got the car but I seem to have misplaced it. But the few pictures I do have of it / the body parts that came off will give you an idea of what it was like when I got it.

Im sure you get the idea. Anyways after I ripped off all that stuff... I started on installing some RSX seats into the car, not because it was the cool thing to do and everyone else seemed to be doing it. (I saw on the forums like 3 other people were installing them into their cars as I was installing mine.)I had previously installed them into my accord because they looked great and were so comfy. I can back this up with proof right here lol.
[Linked Image]
And heres a picture about mid way through installing the RSX seats into my spyder. Doesnt show much just one seat installed and the other one placed in the car.
[Linked Image]
After I installed one seat I decided I wanted to go AWD and it just so happened I had a spare Talon TSI AWD in my yard that I could use as a donor car for the swap. So I put installing the passenger side RSX seat on hold, only need the drivers seat anyways. I wish I had taken more pictures while doing the AWD swap but I always get way into working on my car that I forget to take pictures. But I did manage to get one picture during the swap with both my cars rear ends jacked up.
[Linked Image]
I think it took me roughly 2-3 weeks of working on it a couple of hours a day to complete the swap. So after the swap was done I finished installing the passenger side RSX seat. After that I figured I should get the car painted as nearly every body part was a different color.
[Linked Image]
So I brought it to a client that owns a body shop and does some awesome work. He gets a lot of classic cars going through his shop and they look awesome when they are done. Took a while for the car to get painted as he was cutting me a bit of a deal and working on it when he wasn't too busy. This a picture of when I left it at the shop.
[Linked Image]
Heres the thing I saw when I went back to get it.
[Linked Image]
Gotta love that new paint shine. He did a great job with the body work and paint. So when it was back at my place it was time to do all the assembly. I kind of rushed it because it was such a nice weekend and I wanted to go for a cruise. So I have quite a bit of tweaking to do with body panels and trim over the next week. So on my first cruise with my buddy it turned out he had a camera on him in his back pack. So this was the result....

The pictures turned out pretty good. Also the FMIC on the last picture was just photoshoped in by my buddy to make it look a little better up front lol

So now that I have my beauty back in my hands ill pretty much just be driving it around as is for the rest of the year. Ill just be doing some small maintenance stuff over the rest of the summer. I also just picked up some regular red eclipse tail lights from Johnny L to replace the stupid rice ones I currently have. Gotta install my fog lights at some point too. But when winter hits ill be tearing her apart yet again to do various upgrades in the engine bay and interior.

Sorry for links to the final pictures photobucket was being lame and kept doing a redirect loop error when I used their IMG codes.

Awesome car! I've always loved that colour...it still is pretty weird seeing pictures of these cars without FMICs.

The only thing I would add is an OEM spoiler, but that's just me smile

Booooo.

The car looks gorgeous. I love the colour. Don't ruin it with a spoiler wink

Yea I plan on putting an Evo 3 16G on next year to start. I would have done it this year as I already have pretty much all the supporting mods but its just way to late in the season and I want to enjoy the car.

Next year it will more than likely have a FMIC. IMO they look a lot better with FMIC filling the center space in the bumper cover.

I was originally going to put the OEM spoiler back on it. I even picked up Terrys OEM spoiler off him back in June. But after driving it around with out one for a while I just liked the look with out it. I still may throw it on the car one day but not for a couple years as the holes for it are filled.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Im finally not embarrassed to come to some meets now lol. So hopefully ill get to meet some more members and see their pride and joy.
