Hey guys, so I've been in and out of the site and posted like once or twice a long time ago. I've been getting more serious in fixing up the ol' dsm (due to recently enrolling in automotive technology course) so I wanted get more active here and get acquainted with my boys here in the north. So this is a kind of re-introduction smile

So back to the topic, now with a little bit more knowledgeable in auto, I noticed some things I didn't before aka I'm missing my BISS? In the hole if you can see in the picture it looks plugged up with I'm not sure what. I couldn't fit my finger that deep but it kind of looked like black rtv or dirt? I'm pretty sure the previous owner did this on purpose because he put a Turbo RFL XS bov that's vented, without any supporting mods to vent that I'm aware of. I'm currently trying to get my hands on aluminum SMIC piping with a 1g bov flange to replace this nonsense but just saving up for it. So I'm assuming I should get a new Biss kit and fix it up? The car runs perfectly fine btw, no idling problems or anything.

Also I noticed that my CAS was unplugged. At least it looks unplugged, unless nothing plugs into what I took a picture of. After some searching I've read that only late model 2G's have the CAS mounted on the cams, mine is 95. I've looked all around the engine bay but couldn't find anything that plugs into it.

Bonus question lol: What is this? It's connected to the battery but I couldn't follow the wire it went all the way to the bottom, I didn't have any flashlight or anything with me so I couldn't really see. I'm in an underground garage in an apartment with terrible lighting.

Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome back!

Are you sure it's not just a plastic cap on the BISS that's deteriorated? If your idle is OK you probably have a BISS in there.

Was the head swapped? Maybe the 1G CAS just plugs the hole there. Although I'm not a 2G guy.. If it needed to be plugged in, I think the motor wouldn't run.

The bonus looks like an aftermarket fuse holder for a stereo (or other accessory) install.

Reading it over I don't think I really stated what I needed help with lol. So should I be getting a new Biss kit and installing it? And is the cas fine the way it is or is something wrong with it? All in all I'm just wondering if these two are something I should be putting more attention to, as I'm trying to do maintenance on her before I start with any upgrades.

What Rob said..... They put rtv onto of the BISS screw to keep it from moving keep scraping you should find the screw. 1gs came with a rubber plug. The car wouldnt run with a disco'd CAS. Unless there was another cam and crank sensor. The fuse deff is aftermarket. What size fuse is in there?

Thanks Rob, and I didn't think about that for the Biss. I'll try to carefully peel off the black stuff and see what's under it with a thin allen key or something. And as far as I know everything is stock, didn't get much info off the previous owner and lost contact info. And as for the bonus that makes sense, aftermarket stereo installed and also an alarm system.

You are correct, the late model 2g and all 1g have the CAS on transmission side, the early model 2g have it on the t-belt side. If you look at your t-belt cover, there should be a cable coming out with a triangle connector.

What may have happened here is they put on a 1g head and put in the early 2g CAS to make it run right away.

So there was the BISS, it was just some rtv that I had to peel a bit. Thinking it over, it would've been common sense to do that in the first place before even asking lol.

There was a 25A fuse in the fuse holder.

And I believe these are the CrAS and CAS connectors you were speaking of? http://i1363.photobucket.com/albums/r713/ferrerj004/IMAG00201_zps634ac730.jpg

Are you still referring to the connectors still in the picture or the ones way down below in the bay not in the picture? If you mean where my fingers are it was just to lift that thing so I can take a picture of the connectors lol.

Yeah, the two plugs right ontop of each other should be the CAS and CPS.

My guess for the fuse holder is a fuel pump rewire.
