I recently posted about issues I was having with my fuel pump/wiring. I ended up wiring in a different connector to the pump's sending unit, and now the pump is getting power.
I just installed a brand new Walbro pump and a new Russell filter, thinking one of the two may be my new issue. But NO!! The fuel pump clearly turns on while cranking, and I can turn it on with ECMLink, but I am not getting any fuel from the pump itself, even though it's running. I confirmed this by hooking up a line directly to the sending unit and feeding it into a gas can, but I never got a drop out even though the pump sounded like it was running strong with ECMLink powering it. WTF?!?!?!?
There's a little less than a quarter tank of fuel in the car, but the pump's pickup is clearly submerged in fuel when I place it into the tank, so I don't think low fuel is the issue. Can someone else please explain how I can have fuel in the tank, can hear my brand new pump running, and can't get a drop of fuel out?
I was very careful when installing the pump, should be no issues with the white cap or the o-ring and spacer below it. And from the checking I did, the lines coming out of the tank are not obstructed.
PLEASE HELP, I FEEL LIKE I AM LOSING MY MIND.
Mike

And the best/easiest way to do that would be at the FP rewire relay? I.e. just switch the two wires for power and ground?
Thanks, likely stupid question...

Yes, just switch the power and ground at the relay or the pump, whichever is easier.

Thanks fellas, that was a dumb mistake! Started up and ran well - lesson learned: reversing the polarity at the pump is a bad thing...
