I just adjusted my clutch pedal in my 95 evo3 as per the jacks transmissions instructions to get optimal throw on the pedal stroke. Basically you adjust until the check valve is blocked then back out half a turn.

Anyhow with the clutch setup this way there's no clutch drag, but the pedal at rest position is super high. Is there a way to drop the pedal but increase fluid transfer another way?

I'd like to have the brake and clutch somewhat close to one another in height.

Hello Mike.

That is pretty much it. I understand what you are experiencing but do not think their is anything you can do with the current Master Cylinder.

There might be an other Master Cylinder with a larger Piston dia out there but not sure 100% about which one to use.

One more possibility would be to raise the Brake Pedal adjustment; if it is possible.

Hope this helps.

Perhaps I need to get my flywheel step height checked. The engagement point is so high up now it feels terrible to drive. But if I lower it I get drag. Sigh...

Turn down the cruise switch as much as you can without the MC being preloaded. It is ok if the clutch pedal sits slightly higher than the brake pedal. My Evo is like this OEM and my DSM is similar. Clutch works perfect in both cars and engages near the top of the throw.

I always get my FW Step at 0.610". Way to shallow.

Next depth will be between 0.618" and 0.625". Reza has written quite a bit of info about this. My bet is that you are "suffering" the same symptom as I do.

Most aftermarket Clutch Disc are ticker that the stock Disc. Deeper Step is required otherwise the Disc will not get proper spacing and will drag. That should allow you to drop the Clutch Pedal height by a bit; maybe to the same height as the Brake Pedal.

Again; I'm not 100% what depth I'll go to but never to the 0.610" spec. I should of known better by now...

I have a new 3rd and 4th on the way from Shep. When I put those in I'll get the flywheel restepped. What's the word on best spec for ACTs Reza?

Honestly it totally depends on which disk you are using with the ACT PP. If you are using a 2600/2900 pp with an ACT 6 puck, you are fine with the step height of 0.610" to 0.615".

If you decide to use one of the Southbend TZ FE(full face) disks with an ACT pp, then I would go with a bigger step height to accommodate the unflatened marcel between the disks. Same goes with a OEM disk used with an ACT pp.

Bottom line is disk thicknesses vary. I tend to measure disk thickness anytime I do a clutch job now. My preference is to stick with the thinner 6 puck sprung style disks. They have no marcel that needs to be compressed and are considerably thinner than full face disks, which leads to better clutch disengagement and smoother shifts at high rpm.
