Bud of mine looking for one.

He doesn't want to go the Supra smic way like I have, and also hates fmics. Let me know what you got.

Thanks

How does one hate a fmic?

That's like saying I drive a turbo converted NA dsm.

Quite easily

1-Ease of use
2-Hidden
3-No rad temp issues
4-Uses factory holes hence no cutting or hacking
5-easy to install
6-cheaper
7-Perfect for a daily with a little umph

Depending on what you're looking to get, this hits the check mark every time for a daily. Specially when you're not going for the moon in power. Can you tell I had a part in his decision tongue

I'm pretty sure the market for upgraded sidemounts is dry so good luck. If he doesn't want the Supra one or a FMIC, something tells me he'll be sticking with the stocker for a long time.

Used ones come up here and there. That's how I got mine (heck even got a brand new bullseye one and a spare Dejon Big upgraded one...all for the 2g though; tried fitting them in the 1g and no cigar unless I hack at it and he doesn't want hacking). With everyone switching to FMICs some people don't even know they have upgraded ones when they switch for FMIC.

Maybe look in to water intercoolers, expensive though.

It's for his daily, water intercoolers aren't really a daily type of set-up. Not to mention it has more things to go wrong than a simple Big SMIC.

Some people seem to think that Gui but my buddy dailys his MR2 with a water intercooler and couldn't be happier. But I do agree that in this case it's not a good direction.

For MR2's, the big issue is getting air to go to the intercooler in general. It's hard to do because of the way the car is made (engine in the back). I've seen guys hack at the car body to install fans under the rear to suck air from the bottom of the car. MR2s have a good reason to go water/air, it's easier to run a water cooler up-front with water lines going to the back, than installing a FMIC up front and all the air piping to the back tongue I do get what you're saying though.

Those are all good reasons.

But really, if he's looking to upgrade... I still think it's more logical to go fmic.

I've got my Yonaka type 10 up for grabs. Special price for you if you want. smile

I have a dejon tool modified stock 1g intercooler that I was going to offer up. Unfortunately, I discovered to my dismay that dejon tool owner Dave Johnson passed away on March 16 this year. Having met Dave at a couple of shootouts a few years ago, I remembering how dedicated and knowledgeable he was about our cars and the products he manufactured. For sentimental reasons I plan on keeping it instead. Good luck in your quest.
