MazdaSpeed 6 was only made 05-07. The drivetrain is very weak and does not take much above stock power without grenading and those 2.3L DISI engines have serious carbon buildup problems. They're direct injection which means fuel-related items are pricey as hell and fuel pumps are a known issue. Personally I wouldn't buy a MazdaSpeeed 6 as a reliable DD unless you have a good amount of time to verify it's mechanical condition. Also...Mazdas (especialyl of that era) rust to sh!t. +1 on the rust. The rest of your post is bollocks. Weak drivetrain? Can't take much above stock power? C'mon, there are guys pushing over 800hp on that weak drivetrain. LOL at the 'pricey as hell' fuel related parts... but I guess when you're modding DSM's, virtually anything would appear expensive by comparison. Funny how you walk all over mazda and subie's but champion the civic as a cure-all. Jokes. /

A thread like this brings out all the cooks in the kitchen. It's quite entertaining lol
Johnny, if you drive less than 65 kms per day, look at leasing something within your monthly budget. It really is a secure way of committing your money for a turn key DD with roadside and warranty. Plus loyalty perks moving forward with your brand of choice. If you drive more than that, just do what every one looking for a new car for the best price does. Hyundai 0% for 84 months. Just have the dealer throw in warranty and tires and you're laughing.
Keep your spyder the fun car. And the DD car, a reliable, fuel economical, versatile to your life changes over the next few years.
All I can suggest is to make a decision you'll thank yourself down the road.

Mike brings up a good point. Chevy has a similar 0% for 84 month on the Volt once a year, we will probably be jumping on it next year. If you don't hit the highway on your commute your only expense will be tires. Plus the 8k from the government is a nice plus.

Direct injection fuel systems are high pressure - it's expensive. Doesn't matter if it's Mazda or anyone else. 'Pricey as hell' might be a bit of an exaggeration but anyone who is used to DSM of regular (non high pressure) fuel accessory prices will definitely be in for some sticker shock. That's the point I was trying to get across.
Also, the carbon buildup is a huge issue. I've been around the Mazda forums and the MazdaSpeeds for over half a decade...I know exactly what the issues and costs related to them are. Admittedly I don't know nearly as much about the MazdaSpeed 6 drivetrain as I do the Mazda 3/MazdaSpeed 3 (which I literally know inside out) but last I heard they didn't fare well. This was a number of years ago and maybe things changed but all my comments about the powertrain are 100% true and verifiable with a quick search of the Mazda forums.
With regards to the Subies - I love Subies. Always have. BUT they are bad value for the money in the used car market because people over value them often. The interior being sh!t on all but the newest ones is common knowledge as is their shitty fuel economy. Not knocking them, just letting things that most people value very high be known. Again, this is all stuff easy to find with a quick search or a visit to the dealer. Nothing revolutionary or groundbreaking here.
So yeah, no 'bollocks' except maybe the MazdaSpeed 6 drivetrain.

2010+ G37, super reliable and a high 13s car stock. The sport model can be had with a stick, comes with larger two piston calipers, lowered from factory, larger sway bars and close ratio steering. A tune, intake and high flow cats get you around 300hp at the wheels, stock is 330 crank hp.
