My 90 has a bit of an issue. The shifter will stay where you put it (side to side), it doesn't return to the center. I looked at the shifter base and it's fine and the cables are good. Could it be the arm going into the transmission? if so how would I fix this? Any help is appreciated.

There are 2 bolts holding on the one shift lever. pop that off and you can see if it is the selector going into the trans. or The arms on the outside that may just need some greasing up and rust removal.

Mine will only go to center when down shifting. I've had the assembly apart and played around with the spring on the base. Nothing I could figure out would return the shifter to the middle when shifting up. If you figure this out, let me know. I've played with this occasionally since I got the car.
