Hello

Anyone ever used a 1G AWD Slave Cylinder (Red Piston 3/4") on a 2G AWD; normally uses a Green Piston measuring 13/16"???

I'm sure it's been done, in theory it would give you a slightly faster response with the smaller piston though with such a small difference I don't think it would be very noticeable.

I'm thinking it would also give you a bit more throw.. about 15% or so.

Haven't heard it tried, but would be interested in the results smile

I have experimented with this a long time ago. It is noticeable.

By "noticeable" are you referring to the responsiveness? Did you notice if you got any additional throw out of it?

I got the following info on the ECMLink Forums. I just called Ziggy and will be testing one.

Mounting of the Slave is the same; what Ziggy tells me is that the position of the Bleeder is slightly different. I will test and report my findings.

What follows is the info I got on the Link Forums:

2G Slave Cylinder Piston (Green) has a 20.55mm (13/16") diameter and moves 12 mm. This calculates out to basically 4cc of volume displacement made by one stroke of the Master Cylinder.

1G AWD Piston (Red) has a diameter to 19mm (3/4") and gets a 14mm stroke using the same displaced volume of clutch fluid by the Master Cylinder.

3000GT Piston has a diameter of 17.5mm (11/16") and gets a 16.5mm stroke.

I don't have the specs but the slave from an early 90's Isuzu trooper is a larger diameter than the 2g with a slightly shorter throw, useful with twin disks.

It is very noticeable, if I recall correctly it was the difference between the clutch completely engaging and disengaging. However, this should not be the route you choose to make a clutch shift, unless you absolutely need that extra throw.

I've also done a few things to my 1g clutch pedal assembly to give it a little extra throw. They all help with any heavy clutch setup DSM.

Okay cool, thanks for the info smile

It's not something I'm planning on; new OEM master and slave, properly adjusted, should be more than enough for me. Just a bit of interesting knowledge for the future.

That is good to know, even if it can be a bitch to Bleed.

The SB Disc I'm using is way thicker and I was not enjoying the way it disengaged.

The Clutch Pedal, Master Cylinder, positioning of the Clutch Fork were properly adjusted and the system was properly bled.

The only other adjustment that could of been done was to go to a slightly deeper Step which I intend to also correct.

All in all those thicker Discs can be hard to "play" with.

I'll be putting everything back together in the next month and will pass on the info.
