Hey guys, so I am having a bit of trouble with my a604 automatic transmission in my 420a 2g

Usually what happens is when I shift into drive, the car doesn't want to move forward. After a bit of gas, eventually it kicks into gear and bucks forward. When driving, sometimes it seems to not shift into the next gear and it continues to rev. When I come to a hard stop, it has trouble again going into the first gear. This happens frequently when it is cold outside. Sometimes I am able to ease on the gas and get it into gear, and after a few shifts it seems to work like a charm. When it is warmer, it seems to work fine, only having a bit of trouble shifting into first gear for a bit.

One odd thing happened. When it missed a gear and kept reving (at around 60 km/h), I was not able to get it to shift. But then I turned off the car and turned it on, and it shifted fine.

I am not sure what the problem is. Fluids are fine, but I don't know of its ATF 4 + recommended for the Chrysler tranny. Going to change the filter, but not sure if it will solve the issue (I guess I should have posted after changing it, but I just want to hear your guys thoughts).

Thanks!

On a 2ga 420a with an auto its not unheard for them to have trans problems. If the fluid change doesn't work and you are willing to search for your answer, there is a good chance you will find it here, http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=33

Not trying to steer you away from here, just help you find the answer. Send me a pm if you need auto parts, my brother may have saved some when he parted a car out.

Sounds like a bad torque converter.

Good read.
