Getting really in to electric cars these days and just drooling over this thing right now!! Can't imagine how much this would cost as the batteries alone would be more than your average consumer car.
It has real torque vectoring like the new nsx does so that's really cool!

I am hoping for long distance, consumers won't have access to the high performance stuff for a while.

I told my wife, next time I blow up a motor it's going electric...now, if I could only figure out how to make it 'pssst' with an electric motor.

There was a guy who built his own all electric 1g, I'll have to see if I can dig up the article, it was very crude but worked pretty well.

Probably not as heavy as your think compared to the Tesla 90D I tried out, those cars are around 4500lbs, even though the frame is 100% aluminum.

Yeah that's a good point, I was more thinking in comparison to a normal 1g. Also sure Jay won't have the same capacity as the 90D.

Like seating capacity? Wouldnt be a concern.

I did look into building an electric car.
About 10 years ago... was looking at 14 grand to do my oen conversion. just watched vegas rat rods build an electric rat rod by buying an old converted nissan for parts. They paid under 5000

Haha no I mean range capacity.

Would you just do motors or would you do regeneration? How do you keep the batteries charged?

Have some theorys. but for weight, I would just have it regenerate while it runs the gas engine instead of another generator.

Your would need to have multiple alternators or a seperate one as your electric motors will be useless on 12v

Drop box is blocked at work so I didn't get to see any pictures but from reading I think this would be the best option for you. It's high powered 270hp engine which is pretty sweet, but you will need to figure out space for it as it's a transmission with the motor built in so it's fairly large.

Reading through some of the projects on that forum...damn, there's some dedicated and smart people there. They really dig into that stuff. Some very interesting threads!

Yeah and I have a feeling it's going to keep going that way because of how much those batteries are available as well as how much they have gone down in cost. There seems to be common parts that people use, I like the bmw cause you are getting some proper power where as most of the guys aren't really getting any faster than 45mph

I wasnt really going for effeciency was more going along the path of ferrari. Power a geneator off the tcase output.. charge the battery and use the electric motor in the rear as more of a boost.
