Looking for the bottom end but the entire long block would be good too. PM me if you know anybody that has one sitting around, price, condition, mileage etc.

Thanks for looking.

The only problem with that mod is it kinda lowers compression ratio and it is alot harder to keep oil and coolant from leaking out.

Yep #4 went out. Shame, because with 222k it still ran great and strong. Now it's off the road for the season, but as I started taking it apart I'm kinda happy. Gives me a good chance to look over some stuff that was getting old, clean it up to my liking, and now I have a winter project!

Lucian, can you provide more insight on what happened. I recall you were using Cobb ACCESSPORT but not sure of the tune specs. How much boost and A/F you had it set for?

From what i know, 4B11T can handle as much power as old brother 4G63 in stock form. Which is roughly 400-450 torque.

I have already seen a handful of guys blow up their Evo X's on off the shelf Cobb maps and "Pro Tune" maps. Before taking these X's off the AP Cobb maps, I purposely do a baseline pull to see what they make, and all these cars are making only like 290-310 WHP. Lame, as I easily dial them in to 380-400 WHP safely.

Your the second guy in the past two weeks to tell me they blew the bottom end on an off the shelf Cobb AP.

Guys it wasn't a tune issue, I spoke with Lucian it was a fuel starvation issue.

Reza, what are your thoughts on MRs with TC SSTs ? Can they be tuned to similar power levels?

It's actually funny... I blew the engine Friday night. I had scheduled to meet with Reza the following Saturday evening, so he can get rid of the Cobb Scrapcessport and play around with the stock ECU. But I guess the car had other plans...

It's okay. It's depressing but the more I take it apart the happier I am that I'm doing it. It was in desperate need of a clutch, and I'm going to get the diff pins upgraded as well. Gives me a winter project, and gives me a chance to take everything apart and put it back the way I want it. Clean some things up, some powdercoating, maybe a few upgrades along the way along with a fresh engine.

Should come back out better than ever if all goes well. And if nothing, it can be the paperweight that keeps my DSM company in the back of the shop all winter nice and warm under the heater.

I have already dialed in a few MR's with SST, they make the same horsepower and torque #'s as there is no torque converter.

Thank you Reza, I am working on getting my MR back, i made a mistake before. Any limitations on EVO X, can you tune 2014- stock ECUs? Are you just re-flashing stock ECU ?

A Laser guy....don't think I've see you in the GTA.

The more I read about the 4b11 the less I'm keen on buying one. Engine troubles, SST issues....

Hey now... Don't be hating on 4B11T's I'm sure when the 4g63's came out, people were knocking them down! Sometimes it's just dumb luck... I've got a buddy who drives his Evo hard and has 280KM on it without any issues. There's just that many out there. And soon you'll be hearing about my 4B11NA boosted! haha... Call me crazy but I don't care.

I think you've got a lot of people throwing on a stock cobb tune and beating the piss out of them, because you know, every engine runs exactly the same.

I think once you start driving one(an evolution) than you begin to understand, and thats when you realize how enjoyable it is to drive. Except for the days when you wish it had luxury car suspension in it 😛

Ive driven tims.. It felt great.. Still had that raw power feel.

But it seems everyone I know has had major down time. Expensive down time.

Mind you this is my bias opinion.. Since I'm more jelous that I cant afford to blow up an evo.

Hahaha Jay that made me laugh out loud smile Let me tell you from experience... blowing it up costs the same as about any other car. Fixing it on the other hand, that's what gets you tongue

Although I got my donor for a hell of a deal. Less than half of what I was budgeting/expecting, so I got lucky.

Can't afford the MR/GSR tongue

Or do like English did, swap their X to a VIII drive train.

I have two SST transmissions in the shop now. Once I start digging into these, I will be offering rebuilds.

On a side note I am working on a new race car for the shop. 2009 Ralliart with 5 speed conversion and 800+ WHP. I am hoping to have it ready sometime next year and should be the first in Canada to do the conversion smile

That 800hp one is my car right? *Nudge nudge* wink wink why take the 6speed out though, just not relevant for 1/4 mile passes? Or just tougher tranny from the other car I suppose. Any way to make the sst tough or at least tougher than oem?

Evo X GSR transmission can handle that power in stock form, no upgrades required. I find it to be simpler and much better solution to a problem SST transmission. These cars are not that old yet so parts are not cheap, but for a shop like mines, we have the resources to do this easily.

Of course the SST can be built tougher, but GSR transmission is already like that at 1/5th the price and parts are as cheap as any other syncro transmission smile

I know very little about the English(etc) X, did English swap entire drivetrain, I thought it was just an Evo 8 or 9 rear diff? Magnus has also done the same. As Reza mentioned the gsr transmission in the 10 is supposed to be quite stout, even more so than the previous Evo's I thought.

I don't know exact details but at the Shootout they were looking for 8 parts to fix it.
