If it's the original engine then it should be a 7-bolt, since the switch to 7 was early-mid '92 (and during the '92 MY). Otherwise, oil pan and flywheel are sure-fire ways. If you have the timing cover off then you can easily tell based on the design of the tensioner: 1G 7-Bolt: 6-Bolt: 2G Tensioner (for most 2Gs): Also, 6-bolt engines use 9 8mm exhaust studs for the manifold whereas 7-bolt heads have 7 8mm studs and 2 10mm studs. If you have the valve cover off, 7-bolts use bolts and 6-bolts use studs from the factory. Also, 6-bolt head studs are 12mm diameter and 7-bolts are 11mm diameter.

If it's 93 it shouldn't be a 6-bolt if it's the original motor. Not saying it's impossible, but my '92 Talon TSi AWD had a 7-bolt (April '92 production date) from the factory and it's known the switchover point to 7-bolt was around spring-summer of '92, so it strikes me as odd that a '93 would have a stock 6-bolt unless they found some extras lying around at the factory.
I would double check just to be sure. How would i be able to see if it's original motor(i doubt the 58 year old man swapped it). I have confirmed the motor is a 6 bolt. this car was producted early 93
