Does any one have any feedback on this little guy?

http://www.extremepsi.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=18860&cat=943&page=1

It looks like a neat item to monitor engine knock.

What do you guys think?

Our ECUs get a signal and convert it to useable data. The useable data is not directly from the sensor but after the signal been processed by the ECU.

Each knock sensor for different cars works differently so how can you differentiate between knock from one car to knock from another car?

Thats quite the price, for something that is already there that just needs to be wired up.

It is useful.

Knock sensors are just microphones.

I would have to say this could be better than the traditional DSM knock light mod, however it depends on how accurate it is.

The knock light mod is really just a BCS light, so it's not all that accurate in the first place smile

LOL 120 bucks U.S wow...
Since you sold the DSMlink, why dont you pop a peckerhead chip in your ECU, you can have the stock boost gauge read knock from 0-28 counts I believe, along with lots of other things in the code!

1Gs use knock counts, 2Gs use knock degrees. How would it differentiate between the two and when would the light come on? 1 count? 5 counts? 1 degree? 5 degrees?

Tim, it doesn't plug into the ECU, so counts & degrees means nothing.
It plugs into the knock sensor and lights up when it "hears" knock.

How much knock. How much of a 'signal' does it need is what I mean.

I'd assume it has some calibration to it.
Almost useless, in any case.

Especially with a 1G, it makes more sense to just hook up a logger with an alarm.

There is an adjustement knob on the control unit itself with sensitivity. You can't have it come on when you get 1 knock or 5 knock or 10 knock.. it either comes ON and or DOESNT come on. So you may not have the luxury of knowing exactly how much knock you have, you simply know you have it, which is alot better than not knowing at all.

Yeah I installed one of those Gameboy Advance things on the TV show I was on for talons. It's really really cool but really really expensive.
