I have to admit, with some very minimal mods I easily broke into the 13's on pump gas!!!

I own a 92 Talon AWD here's the mods

-Full 2.5 in turbo back exhaust (no cat)
-Crushed 1g blow off valve
-removed lower honeycomb
-Mustang Fuel Pump (190 lph)
-Act 2100
-Buschur Upper intercooler pipe
-2g manifold
-ported manifold and turbine housing (done by me)

I didn't even need a boost controller, the crushed blow off valve held at 14 psi rock solid, no creep.

I made 3 runs, letting the car cool down between runs.

1st run 2.07 60 ft.
14.609 ET
89.606 MPH

95 Z28 beside me ran a 15.7 @ 93mph, sure shut his buddies up in the stands!!! [Linked Image]

This run made me very happy!

2nd run 1.904 60 ft.
14.176 ET
93.196 MPH

Wahoo!!!! 95 SVO Mustang ran a 15.44@90.46mph

Who was it that said the ACT 2100 clutch wasn't that great??? [Linked Image]

3rd run 1.907 60 ft (all four tires spinning)
13.845 ET
94.520 MPH

Holy sh!t, I totally amazed myself and others. Very simple mods and such a great time.

I owe a huge thank you to Marco from Magnus Motorsports that sold me most of my go fast parts. Biggest thank you goes to some local club members, John Porter and Kon Pappas with whom I wouldn't have been able to put the car together without. You guys all rock!

Tyler

That was me about the ACT2100. (:

Congrats on those runs. How did you manage 14psi without some kind of boost control, though? I saw it once or twice (I think) with my modded boost solenoid, but it wouldn't hold steady.

I know it was Troy, that's why I put the smiley face. [Linked Image]

As for the 14 psi, it's rock solid. I have the blow off valve crushed to open at 19 psi. Before then I was hitting 11.5 to 12 psi. Boost solinoid is removed and lower honeycomb as well, opps I thought there was something I missed.

One thing I can't say enough of is that John and Kon helped me through a lot of bad sh!t, they have been there to remind me why I love these cars.

Ps... The two last times indicate a 250-275 hp rang, at the crank of course.

Tyler

Right on Tyler! It's times like these when I wish I had an AWD. [Linked Image]

P.S. I've been told that trap speed is more indicative of HP than ET

Tyler,

Thanks for the kind words. I'm happy Johnny and I could be of help. After all, what are friends for! I know you'd do the same for us! [Linked Image]

I must say that Tyler launches like a bat outta hell!!! It was very kool to see an AWD get sideways coming outta the hole!!! [Linked Image] All I know is that with a few more mods, he's gonna be running 12's in no time!!! Good job Tyler!

Okay kids, secret to success. Don't expect a tired worn out car to run fast once you put go fast parts on it.

I started out fresh with a JDM engine and then put a Remanufactured Head on it. Tranny shifts like butter, no matter load or RPM. It's a blessing. Transfer case hasn't been replaced on recall yet, it growls at me on decelleration! The car is kinda dangerous, drivetrain slack is apparent with hard shifts. That will be fixed soon as possible.

I've got a long way to go with upgrades. It's going to take a lot more work to move from high 13's to the 12's. At least a good 100 horsepower, although I'll push that 14b to the limit. I'm glad I put in a metal headgasket and arp headstuds.

I loved that last launch! What I wouldn't give to see the look on my face and the crowds when I did that! [Linked Image] Word is out on the street already, I won't be able to cruise the strip anymore.

Update for today, car went in for some fresh bumper paint after a hit and run incident and a fresh windshield. Only decal left on the car will be the Eagle one on the front bumper. Can you say debadged?!?! [Linked Image]

Time for bed, stay tuned, possible Blaha, AFC and a modded 1g intercooler. I'll update in a few weeks as to the outcome.

I was going over my times this weekend, what would be a possible reason why I'm not getting in the 100 mph range with my ET.

The way I was shifting I was mainly holding gears until about 6800 rpm and then shifting. even in third. I ran out of third gear about 100 ft from the finish and had to go into fourth. I guess I should hit fourth gear sooner???

Ty, you should be looking at what kind of ET you get from your trap speed, not the other way around. The speed is how much power the car is making, ET is just how good of a driver you are. I think you're close to maxing out your ET's with only 94mph. I think with a 1.7s sixty you could probably stretch that 94mph to a 13.5. What kind of boost were you running to only get 94mph?

According to that CarTest program that used to be floating around, it listed the optimal shift points as the absolute highest you can take it in 1st gear (rev limiter), 6800 shift out of 2nd and 6500 out of 3rd.

Lots of guys hold WOT while they shift as well. NOT recommended without a Todd Mod. (: There's been debate on the 3rd to 4th shift as well... I think it'd be wiser to hold 3rd.
You could try it for one run. I wouldn't know myself, I've never tried the 1/4.

There is no way I can hold third, the rev limiter would stop me. [Linked Image]

I've decided, since our cars with the 14b don't have a lot of top end power, it's wiser to shift into 4th early at approx. 6500 rpm.

Even with my crappy engine timing last time I was running about 94 MPH. Shifted into 3rd at 6500rpm and 4th at 6000rpm.

We have about the same mods... (minus 2G mani and ic pipe for me) and my times are around yours...

I found out that staying in 3rd gear will give you higher mph but higher ET too... and shifting in 4th at around 6000 (maybe a little over) will give you lower ET and Lower mph... weird but that's what happened in my case...

Oh yeah and launching at something around 500 rpm lower than that last one would have given a better 60' and maybe a tenth or two less...

keep the good work! [Linked Image]

Got to love the encouragement and the pats on the back! [Linked Image]

My car will still be in the body shop until Wednesday. Then it's going in to the local dealer for a Transfer Case. Man, I won't see her for another week at least! I guess it keeps the miles off of it. [Linked Image] Damn thing has been in the shop way more time than I've driven it.

My other half gives me the gears at least once a day, best trick I've learned lately is to stop cleaning my ears, it makes it easier to not hear what the woman is saying. [Linked Image]

I hear you there. (: Since you're dealing in tenths of a second, the shift to 4th will steal as much time as reacceleration in that gear will give you...
