I'm sending a couple tanks of 94 through my car right now hoping for a day at the track on Saturday. With these prices it's almost a $1/L OUCH!

I was in Vancouver last week, regular octane was steady at 98/litre. I didn't bother to see what 94 was at....

I choose not to look at the price. Fill up on Monday and pray that it'll last a whole week. No point in getting bent out of shape, nothing you can do about it. I'd rather use my energy elsewhere.

Half this price hike is actually taxes by our beloved government. They should cap it at some point to avoid this outrageous situation.

Certainly gives me a reason to take the Talon off the road as my daily driver.

gas in Sturgeon Falls was 88.x for regular over the weekend, that would make ultra 94 over $1.00. maybe I shouldn't bother trying to fix this heap and look into a TDI VW.

The only way I can afford to drive the Talon is to not drive it.
I live 5 mins walking distance to my office.
No way on earth I can survive driving the talon@$1/L communting 100kms/day.
You commuting guys should seriously think of buying a Jetta TDI wagon as a daily driver. I hear they are up to 62MPG/hwy. Which is like 1200Kms/per full tank. (I would need to fill up maybe once every 2 months) I think my talon gets somewhere around 17-18MPG city.
Figuring a jetta wagon cost about 35k, the guys that commute up to 100kms/day end up paying for the jetta in 10 years in the fuel you save.

Gas prices are hovering around $0.95 to $0.98 per liter in Vancouver for 87 recently. The regional taxes added to price is really painful. You pretty much have to watch for a weekly/biweekly price war and fill up as much as you can then or limit your fill up to 15 litres if you miss the sales. I just filled up at $0.859/l (= $0.999/l for 94) on Sunday and then it bounced up to $0.979 on Tuesday. [Tho, that's still cheaper than that $1.25 can of Coke I bought at work .]

You'd get as much sympathy from the Gov't as your employer when you bitch that you need a raise to pay for gas. My wages do go up and down with the gas (petrol and natural) prices.
Write that down.

They have enough gas resources for the next 1000 - 5000 years
the only reason the prices are raised are because of our high paid politicians who take 400 million dollar vacations and such some gas companies say taxes on gas = close to 47 percent of the actual price (think about that for a second)
dont blame this on anything else, if you do you are being foolish

dont blame this on anything else, if you do you are being foolish 1000-5000 years? LOL are you serious? We're already reaching peak oil production as we speak... in fact, we may have already passed it. We won't know until about 4 or 5 years after the fact. Demand is going up and supply is going down. Production costs are also rising as drilling and refining becomes more and more difficult and costly. It's all downhill from here.

So what you are telling me is that in 4 - 5 years all construction equipment / all gas powered equipment is magically going to convert into hybrids ?
come on now, we both know better then that (its all a money game).
i gurantee you in 4 / 5 years we will "all" still be using our "Gas" powered vehicles
think about this for a minute , why is ford and other companies introducing larger motors ? larger vehicles and such ? so that they can get rid of them all in a couple years ?
come on now we both know better then that

It’s all good to know that one day our cars will run on other resources that provide more benefits to our planet and our health. But till that happens, others will continue to burn holes in our wallets so they can be on top on what’s known as the “money game”.
Also, to stop oil refineries means a lot of layoffs. Think about what it might do to the world economy.
Bottom line is with prices like this, I refuse to buy gas until the gas companies get serious about their customers. Today, I’ve never seen so many TTC riders. This says a lot, since TTC is complaining about low funds and Torontonians are complaining about TTC fairs that seem to jack up every year.
Sorry for the ever so skipping post,

Cars likey consume the majority of the resources.. all gas powered equipment won't change just like that..Does anything change "just like that"? Change takes time...equipment will improve over time. SUch as cars are/will. The new cars running on cells or whatever may be huge, bulky and ugly now..but wait a few years. It will all change eventually.

Yea..but we'd all still be driving our DSMs...which consumes gas Anyone want to become an expert in "cell engine swapping?" Hrmmm...there's a business idea. About solving gas problem...yes, they probably do have the technology to do that right now...but like the internet, it will be awhile when it's bestowed upon us commoners. Hopefully before the world blows up b/c of so much pollution.

What a difference from this time last year. I remember it was in the low-mid 60's for gas last summer. I don't ever remember it being this big of a leap before. I mean 10 years ago I remember gas being in like low-mid 50's, so I mean 10 cents in 10 years isn't that big of a deal, you don't really notice it when it's a penny a year increase. But I mean to jump 20 cents in just one year is ridiculous, and obviously there is going to be an outcry. And I don't think anyone knows what gas will be at this summer, so the 16 year old working at the full serve inhaling gas all day at the local Sunoco is just blowing air out of his ass. I highly doubt that prices will be any higher than this for a while, they can only drop back down. I mean if it were to jump over a dollar like these gas station kids are saying, that's a 40 cent increase in a year, not going to happen... The government needs to look at this whole situation and do something to correct it, because this doesn't just affect us, while they are laughing in our faces, it affects them too. Car manufacturers are struggling and selling a lot less cars these days, and thats a major industry in this country, especially in Ontario. People can't cope with this increase in the cost of everything. I mean I don't know how any is supposed to survice on the $7.15/hr pay rate. I'm struggling at $13.15/hr and I still live at home. And it's not like just raising the min. wage will really do anything in the long run, it's just a temporary solution to keep people happy for a while and have them thinking "oh look... the government is doing such a good job..." I think if this keeps up our friend Dalton will be out of a job come next election time. I can't the showing of the legislature here and there on CP24, and the guy doesn't appear to know what the hell he's doing. Everybody wanted the PC government out of power, but I don't ever remember these kinds of hikes with good ol Mikey, or even Ernie running the show. Anyway, now I'm just getting all worked up over something I can't control, so I'll just shut up and end it right here.

I was with my friend this afternoon, and the shell station on Bathurst and Lawrence Ave. w. had their sign posted at 83.1. So he decided to fill there. When he was about to pump the gas, the gas tenant turned off the pump on us. He said that there was a problem with the machine and to wait 4 min. Yea right. He jacked the price up to 89.5/litre. I told him that he was an absolute jerk and that we will not ever fill at his station. 14 people saw this and did the same thing. We ended up going to Sunoco on Dufferin and Wilson. The thing I'm trying to say is, the dude lied about the problem with the machine not working so he can make a few bucks off us. Instead, he lost customers. Anyone had similar problems?

They are going down here in London as I suspected. Majority of places I saw this morning are at 83 cents a litre, and the rest were at 86. I had a an experience with gas prices changing on me, however, it was a experience. I filled up for 63 once, went in to pay for gas, by the time I got through the line and was walking back out the door to my car the employee was like "You got a horseshoe with yo today?" and pointed at the sign. It read 79
