Check out my new toy and let me know what you think, I am getting the blue one and it should arrive within a few days.

Can't wait, and insurance is dirt cheap since its not classified as a sport bike, it's a touring bike.

Its nice and all, but it lacks top end. I'm already thinking of upgrading to a supersport. Even jumping to a 600 will be a 30hp increase.

Nice Darko, I love the colour. they only offer Blue and Yellow in the 04'

I took it for a rip yesterday and it seems okay, this will be a starter bike for me, well atleast the first one I have owned personally.

I need to insure this for one year and I can move to an Gixxer or R9 and my rates will be affordable.

Any advice on this Darko, anything I can upgrade at the dealer before the bikes is ready?

Cheers.

They've got a slew of dealer accessories for these now... as you can tell in the pic, I've got the solo seat cover. That was worth the money, only 50 bucks, and it looks great.

I've also since bought the fender (big plastic plate holder thing) eliminator. It really makes the back of the bike look nice.

They've also got full fairing kits now, rear wheel huggers, and SV1000-like belly pans. The full fairing is something like $650, the belly pan is around $400. I think the hugger is a few hundred bucks.

As for performance, I know a full M4 Race exhaust system bumps performance from 70rwhp to 75, but I think its around $800 so thats a steep hill for 5 horsepower. I wouldn't even bother. "Slipon" mufflers are around 400 bucks, they sound awesome.

5 horse, you'll notice the difference. You're going to gain low end torque as well, and I'm not familiar with M4, but my Hindle was so much lighter than the stock exhaust. The only problems with full exhausts for bikes, you might gain as much as 10 hp (to the wheel) but you might even end up losing power, I've met a few guys who dynoed afterwards and were dead even or lost 1-2 whp. I think the sound alone is worth every penny, so a slip on might be a consideration....ever pass a bunch of stopped cars behind someone turning left and some joker pulls out in front of you because he didn't see/hear you? With the new can or better yet full race exhaust, pull in that clutch for a sec and jab the throttle. You get noticed and that's a great thing on a bike, much safer.

Nice, the V-twins are fun, very torquey!
I used to have the SV's big brother a 1997 Suzuki TL1000s, until I racked it...

Have fun and be safe.
I can't remember where I read it but 80% of new Sport/sport touring bikes are written off within the first year.

The 600cc supersports all seem to lose some torque from a full exhaust system until around 5000rpm, then gain a few ft-lbs throughout the band from there in.

The SV650 gains about 4 to 5 ft-lbs all the way up to around 5500rpm, then that gain comes down to 1 to 2 ft-lbs till redline... thats only on a new can and midpipe. I do believe with a full system there's less of a gain (maybe even a loss) in bottom end torque, but lots more gain in midrange and top end.

Darko I thought about Ronnie's Gixxer first, so I called insurance but that bike is a 150% surchargable bike and for someone like me who just got thier m2 it was a bend over and grab the ankles insurance rate.

Ronnie,Darko, is thier anything I could buy that would cover the sides of the bike instead of the open concept look?
if so, know where I can see pic of what she would look like?

Cheers.
