I had that problem yesterday and found a full can of pepsi under my passenger seat But on a more helpful note, it sounds like something could be loose and if you decelerate hard enough it swings hard enough to hit something. Not much help, but a thought at least.

Could be a few things. If the ball joint is working its way out, the lower control arm will clank (happened to me). If the swaybar bushings are shot, the swaybar may also clank.
