Well I've been blowing smoke on WOT and I just recently removed my intake pipe and noticed a but of oil sitting on the intake lip of the turbo. The shaft spins fine and has zero play. Am I just in need of a seal or 2? Where can I get these seals?

It could also be the oil coming from your valve cover, you can put a small fuel filter on the hose or get a catch can.

Thanks for the reply Dave.

Can you explain how the oil gets from the valve cover into the turbo? I'm running stock boost, K&N without an air can, hacked MAF and no BS shafts. Can the pressure be THAT high?

Yep, that could be Oil coming from your Crankcase Line; goes from the Valve Cover to the Intake Tube.

Put a small FF in line with the Tube and see if the Puff O-Smoke disapears. If it does; you are a magician, if not you need Seal$$$ LOL.

Try this my wizard freind.

Ok, I wonder if Harry Potter is free this weekend alien .

I shall install the fuel filter and see how it goes. Does anyone have a link offhand? I'll check the VFAQ right after this post.

I'm going through loads of oil when I boost. Under heavy driving I'm losing like 500ml per 500km of driving. Can my turbo chew up this much oil and still work properly and will a FF fix this? I have NO drips anywhere so it's not sneaking out Harry Houdini style from the engine.

Thanks Dave and Ghis.

If you're going through that much oil (and only under boost) then I think it's time for new turbo seals. Everyone who does the fuel filter thing only finds small amounts of oil in it after a few days or longer. I'm sure some people have more, but 500ml per tank (about) seems like a lot to be losing out that little line on the valve cover.

Hey Doug,

That is my next question... where can I buy just the oil seals? Like I said my compressor wheel is in top shape and the shaft has ZERO play and it's puts out 11psi no prob (no boost controller) so I don't believe I'd need to rebuild the whole thing, just the seals. Can you or someone else direct me where I can find just the seals?

Have you done a compression test lately?

Would be a good idea to take rings out of the picture so that you don't try a bunch of magic tricks for nothing tongue
