I don't know what the hell my problem is, I wish you could use nails on cars tongue Last time it was the valve cover holes, this time it's on the turbo housing.
It's a long story as to why I had to take it off, but none the less I did, and I ended up breaking two of the bolts that hold it onto the manifold. The one I got fixed alright, and ran a tap through it and its fine, but the other I guess the drill went in a bit crocked, and when I ran the tap straight down, the bottom half of about half of the one side of the hole has no threading. What's the best way to fix this? I was thinking of changing the location of that stud and nut to where my problem is and just getting one that's a bit larger and retapping the hole. Is there a reason for the stud being in that specific location? Or can it be moved? Any other ideas? Anyone else ever do this? Or am I the only dumbass here? embarassed
I half-assed this the first time, and that's why I have this problem now, so I want to fix it properly. Without having to buy a new turbo of course annoy tongue

The proper way to fix that is with a thread insert (Helicoil or Timesert).

It may be cheaper for you to get this done at a machine shop as the thread insert kits are not cheap.

So the gasket fits. Go with Robs advice and to be honest it sounds like you should stay away from electric drills. Go to a machine shop.

Cheers Tony

If you can get three bolts on then you should be fine.
I ran with two for a little while and had zero leaks. I tried to fix them but ended up just like you with rescuing one and damaging the other. I have been using just three for all the last summer with no leaks!
