This section has been pretty dead and so thought would post a few encounters with my 92 lately.
A few days ago was honda day with a civic and
some other honda. Both were pretty much roll ons not really off the lights and both were ugly for the honda boys.
Day later it was a sunfire.I did something I usually hate which was the go around from the right turning lane at a light.I was impatient that day for some reason and decided since people in my city always like to try that on me that I would try that on someone else.
I smoked the sunfire bad off the line and got to try out my new stutterbox with my new custom chip.I got in front and pretty easily got in front of the sunfire as the usual parked cars were coming up fast in my lane. The sunfire driver a girl with her significant other were not too pleased in fact mad as heck they did go full throttle though or they would have been much much farther back. Also my stock clutch is shot and still in there and only running my 50 trim at 14psi since still on stock sidemount and alco injection not installed yet either.

Next day got to smoke a kia sedan off the lights but hey he started it.He also did the 80km/hr ricer flyby after I slowed down when hit 60km/hr as he was lots of carlengths back.

I know these cars are not worthy races for my 50 trim but with the fubared clutch best 60ft I can get is 2.19 and with the lower boost nowhere near as fast as it should be.

Also I want to empasize that I don't believe in high speed races on crowded public streets ever and off the line races are usually ended at 60km/hr.Roll ons might be slightly faster to 80km/hr or so but not in residential areas only in industrial parts of town.
If want to run quartermiles we take it out of town and away from the city cops. The rcmp are very forgiving of a bit of dueling and have let friends off when you figure they would for sure have not.

I also have run my talon with my tazzo vpc which is like a gtech and will take talon to local track this year hopefully.
My tazzo gives 60fts and was within a tenth of track mph and about 4 tenths higher than track mph.It can be calibrated to be exact though to nearest hundreth.
My best time lately was 13.22 at 115mph with a 2.21 60ft.That 115 would be 111 corrected to track time.I think that seems about right.Boost at 14psi.

i say race everyone that tries to punk you. but only through second. its good to teach people who dont know what fast really is. next time they see a talon, they won't try it.

they had no chance, but they didnt know that.

Nigel why do you say they are a joke. They happened and the hondas tried my car maybe cause the one side of the car the decal that says awd turbo is missing.Maybe just cause they think they are a match for a stock talon.

And I think I explained that time with my 50 trim. One the factory clutch is still in the car ,the new SBR 3500 is sitting in the box.I was waiting on a taboo fork forever but the SBR 3500 shouldn't need one as bad as the 2600 I was going to install but recently sold.

I can't get a better sixty foot than 2.19 with my slipping stock clutch. So how does driving skill come in ? I have raced many cars at the track and no how to drive.I am 47 not a 17 year old punk kid.
Also that time is with 14psi on stock sidemount.
I think its actually pretty good.Get a 1.8 or 1.7 60ft and that would be mid to high 12s.Up the boost to 25 with race on nice frontmount and should see 11s.I still have my hks cams to install and might get a magnus intake and or spray.
And while the cars I played with last couple days were pretty weak they were the ones that started playing around first well except for the sunfire but she went full throttle trying to beat me off the lights.
Now sure will get to play with more worthy opponents this spring and summer but for now thats what wanted to play with me so thats what I posted. I could lie and post fantasy kill stories. Not my style.
Now be nice Nigel this is the kill story section. smile

Oh if only it were that easy. Plus you've totally jinxed yourself now. smile

In all seriousness though, you typically need 115 mph or more to get into the 11s in a DSM, so a few more parts are in your future if that's your goal.

If you can't do 12s with your new clutch, something is really really wrong. smile

Well just ordered me a big front mount today so that should let me run more than 14psi on my 50 trim and when get my alco injection installed 20 to maybe 22 or so should be possible on pump 92 and thiink we are getting 94 shortly.

I would think the car should easily be able to hit under the 2.0 mark or is that dreaming? My v8 80 trans am can hit 2.08 on street tires. The talon has to be able to do better than that with awd.

Should have clutch and intercooler and water/alco injection installed in next month or so.Cams maybe a bit after that.Think should put in better valve springs before doing my cams.
I already have rev limiter raised to 8000 I think it is on my custom chip.

ya dude... seriously get a good clutch if you dont have one yet, 2600, and a lightweight flywheel.... stutterbox set to 5500rpms, with a lil practice you should be able to launch in the low 1.7's

Guys I think some of you are misreading my posts or something.Part of it is my fault.I have stuff in my sig that is not installed yet but its not vaporware I have the stuff or I don't put it in the sig.

Currently have old stocker clutch ,at least think its stocker ,it has pretty high pedal pressure but it won't hold much higher boost than 14psi or very high rpm launches. That is main reason have 2.19 60fts right now.

I also am currently on stock sidemount,my water/alco is not installed and my hks cams are still sitting in my spare room also.Keeping my 50 trim leashed at 14 as rigth now have no knock at all at that level.Timing looks good too.

So I think I can easily get 115mph when install the cams and new big front mount intercooler and have a new Slowboy Racing 3500 clutch waiting for install also.

So hope that makes it clearer.I am also thinking of dsm link and magnus intake, some spray and stroker to finish off my car. This is not pie in the sky thinking guys I am a 47 year old hotrodder that grew up on v8 muscle.I do what I say.

My other current cars are a 1999 trans am ram air,a 96 z28 vert and an 1980 trans am.All are modded to various degrees.I usually leave nothing stock. And no I am not a millionaire just in a position that I can use a fair bit of my salary on mods and have a pretty understanding wife.By buying her the z28 vert didn't hurt either!

Sorry if some of these posts in this section seem lame with slower cars as competition but hey I just post what happens, let the cards fall as they may.

I think that's it right there...

Why post kill stories of your modded DSM vs. cars that a stock DSM could easily beat?

How do you kill something that's already dead? lol

I'm really not sure what kind of comments you could expect, other than what's been said above.

Hey good job, you killed a Sunfire... *golf clap*
It really would be quite sad if you didn't! tongue

Well so I should only post stories about cars that might lose to? I have seen a lot of stuff in my 47 years on this earth and I will tell you something..you never know what is in that other car.

Sure it might be stock and it might have nitrous or a turbo kit or a supercharger kit or whatever.
I live in a reasonably big city here not a little hick town.Guys have all sorts of toys.Old datsun 280z cars with 500 plus small block chevys, fieros with small blocks, chevettes with small and big block chevies.V8 vegas and done to the hilt monzas and lots of mintrucks with big power v8s stuffed in them.

We also have hondas with engine swaps and lots of guys running spray and aftermarket turbo kits and all that too.And unless you look under their hoods and know the cars intimately you can be surprised as heck.
I have lost to faster cars and lost to slower cars. Not so easy when you race manual cars.Manual cars suck at the track and for 1/4 mile racing.Too much chance of missing shifts, short shifting ,hitting the limiter, blowing off the tires. At the track and 1/4 mile autos and big stall converters rule.

I just post what happens to me out there in the world. If some guy thinks he can take my talon with his kia something or other well great.

And don't think our cars are king of the hill.
There are lots of fast stuff out there in nearly every city and some smaller towns.

Its all just fun and games don't try to take this stuff too serious. And you won't cry when some ugly 4 door hands you your butt in your almighty dsm.I love my dsm and am having some good fun with it.It might be my fastest car this year hard to say, next year also hard to say.

I just picked up a nice zex wet nitrous for my 96 z28 vert a few minutes ago and can guarantee low 12s or 11s on the spray on that one with some nittos or something similar on the back.
And that car is really not that modded yet.A set of headers and some heads for maybe 2000 canadian on top of the other mods already done to it and its a 10 second car on 125 to 150 shot.

Just have fun and be careful out there.I don't do stupid street racing stuff.I shut it down at 60km/hr off most lights and do roll ons only in deserted industrial part of town.I do 1/4 mile runs on double lane highway usually very late at night or early sunday mornings.I am not stupid. My liscence is minimum.I like the track too but its several hours away from me.I intend to give the talon a run or two out there this summer.

You guys need to lighten up and if people post stories in the section of board then great. If you only want to read about ferrari kills or something then close this section.A kill is a kill is a kill and most really funny stories are when some cocky guy with a stock civic or something really thinks he can beat an even stock turboed modded up talon awd.Thats when we have to show them the light.Maybe they will sell their slow slugs and kias and junk and buy some dsms like we have.
But I do enjoy smoking these unsuspecting fools most of the time. And I don't think there is a sweeter sound then my 50 trim spooling up!! smile
Its usually the sound of Bye Bye wannabe fast car.Next time buy real parts not decals and wings and pretty rims.. laugh

Back to the times...on an act2100 and stock turbo, I got 1.7sec 60' times, so you should have no problem doing so once you get your new clutch.

Thats good to hear about the 60fts.I am hoping to be able to do a 1.7 at least.I am getting very impatient to put my new SBR 3500 in but still have a faint hope my taboo fork will show.
Yeah right.. rotflmao

I guess wait a few more weeks. My old clutch is still giving me my gears just slipping a lot.
