Please...
A Mongoose is of the weasal family, and is not a rodent. Not unlike a ferret.

Rodents have two front teeth that keep growing all of their lives, like a beaver. (the beaver is a rodent)

Here endeth the lesson.

Prepare for the lab, you won't survive it. laugh muhahahahahahaha

I think Tinky Winky's gonna be a little too busy cleaning up the coolant he dumped al over his engine compartment trying to keep up last night...
So, PPG, did the PP make it home OK?? My car did. (But, then again, we didn't have to pull over to save MY car...)

For, those who weren't there, I think it was a pretty good match. I got to pull on PPG once, maybe twice.. he pulled on me 2 or 3 times. Then, there was this BIG cloud of green steam as the PP's rad cap let go.

I can't help but wonder how it would have turned out if we were BOTH actually using pump gas (chicken man was STILL running race gas) and the PP was actually reliable...
eek

Brett?? Andy?? Is that how it looked to you guys from the back row?? wink

Who was that S4 that did the RICE BY?? I forgot all about him, then after we slowed down.. WHOOSH... laugh

Hey Mark, Steve's best ET is 13.6*.Last time at the track he was running 13.8* @ 108MPH (traction ,traction, traction O where does it go)So from a rolling 80-90Km/H start it's a whole new ball game! But I digres, this is not an artical on the pros of FWD O wait yes it is!

Ok so all of us get on the highway and scare the sh!t out of some 50-60 cars mark and steve line up and slow down which wasn't good for Andy and I as we were already ahead of the slow pokes!

and BAMMN! vented wastgate, OH my Lord is that cool! 300m away and all I hear is Mark maaaaaaaaaam,.maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam.

Back to the story it was exactly as steve has said, it would have been nice if there was less traffic for them.
So after they went a bunch of times Mark and Andy went and Andy handed Mark his ass on a platter, sorry I forgot I was behind and thought they were comming towards me. Then Steve and I go and he spanks me but I didn't do bad for 10lbs, this is were the fun begins. My injector plug comes loose and I'm missing and think I've done some serious damage so pull over, by the way were in Markam by now. Everbody else pulls over accept Ian, he's already heading home. I get out and pop the hood and start playing then I look over to see what those guys are doing and Marks hood is up and looks like a blast furnace was just opened! UH OHH! SAY TINKIE WINKIE It wasn't really a huge deal the rad cap had come loose and puked! We couldn't find any water so Ian like a rocket in his German ricebyer! comes back and saves the day!
All in all a very fun night.

sorry for going on I thought I'd try to get it all out in one post and sentance rather than many.

smile

Well first off I must say...I had no idea FWD cars were so fast on the highway. Seriously. I would honestly consider it a tie between Steve and I. I think whoever got the initial jump actually remained ahead.

But I can not for the life of me figure out how the hell my rad cap came loose in the first place... Very bizarre. Thanks to Ian, I made it home just fine and the car runs just fine too.

Pizza was good...company was great, coffee was good (but not 100% decaf, man did I have trouble sleeping) The cars were fast laugh and I can't express enough the appreciation for the club, who stayed with me in the cold waiting and helping!!!

btw Brett, I don't recall Andy ever kicking my ass???

Mark B: Brett has my times dead on...

The 13.67 was a couple years ago @ 102.27. I haven't beat it since. I somehow managed a 2.11 60' and can't do it again.

What scares me the most is PPG has the top end of a FWD, AND the amazing launch of the AWD. That thing is one SERIOUS car!! Congrats on a SWEET ride, Mark!

The pizza, and conversation was a good time. We HAVE to do it again soon!

Hmm.. assuming I don't forget anything....

K&N
Hacked aircan / Hacked MAF
16G (small) (19psi)
Starion FMIC
2.5" BTSR Upper IC pipe
2" lower IC pipe
550 cc injectors
S-AFC
Walbro 255
Testpipe
Custom 2.5" cat-back

I think that's about it (other small stuff, like shortened shifter throw)

What I need: an AWD launch!! and all of PPG's shiny bits!! smile

I should probably add the almost 1000 lbs LESS than the PP my car weighs.

Good job represent'n Steve smile . You and I will have to duel it out next year since my fastest mph to date is 107.6. But it won't be in Quadcylla frown . It's time to retire her and move everything into a 92 Talon Tsi FWD. The new ride will be ready by the time the track opens again. A few things better will be the engine (160s compression), Scotts cams, testpipe and 2.5" or 3" cat back (gotta lose the Dynomax) and a Magnus FMIC. I may even put the new girl on a diet wink .

So you will have your hands full... and PPG will have someone to show him the line ahead smile .

2002 will be good for us FWD guys. Even Chirped 5th should be going for it with his rebuilt engine and finally some tuning wink .

Hey... Friday night was supposed to be top end - No??? (Dennis, you would have loved it!!!) Anyway, as usual, nobody could keep up. All this speed up slow down stuff. I ended up turning around somewhere out by Cambridge, or London or something. Looked around and nobody's there. Got back to Brampton and started to look for some local talent that wanted to get schooled. There was plenty! Then I get "the call" Glad to help out Mark, you bailed me and the kids out twice as I remember, so consider it my return of the favour!

Very nice runs.... I must say, Steve did pull up very nicely... for a FWD. wink

Personally, I honestly wasn't expecting the sort of highway runs that ended up happening... too much traffic all around for my liking. Slow, go, slow, go... smile

And so I must sadly admit, that as much of a "pansy ass" as I will appear to be for saying this; zipping along in and around that much traffic on the 401 at night, scares me a bit too much. smile

Not to mention a certain detection device that was picking up signals from various places... wink

Andyhow...
Mark B: Yes, got my idle fixed just in time, so it's correct. (almost... the TPS on a 2G, is a finicky integrated thing)
As a result though, my fuel is all over the place, rich to lean to rich again... I need some serious tuning time with Lionel, but I'm not sure winter is going to hold off much longer.

Ian... well, he just disappeared into the night, and we never saw him again. smile

Next time, we find an empty country road somewhere... you just gotta dodge the cattle. smile

It was the German version of lightspeed Andy! Da Panzar wagon rules! Ya? I have to agree with AB, though, traffic did pose a bit of an issue. But Mark, you think you got brakes? Ha! I'm seriously impressed with the S4. Just toss out the anchor, it grabs, and BAM your doin' 100 just like everybody else. Except your eye balls are stuck to the inside of the windshield.

Oh I got brakes...problem is I got coolant too!!

Yeah the traffic was a bit too much. WE should use better self-restraint next time.

Either way, I'm glad I didn't lose eek

FWD is strong on the highway...no question but I would still rather have the best of both worlds.

btw Mike, don't think I didn't see the purple plymouth eater comments made by some of you!!! Bring it on baby...bring it on! tongue

PPG with your JDM WWD/AWD setup, can you get out of AWD while driving, or do you actually have to have the car on the hoist and undue something?

Ian,
Do you have a Blue S4?

If so did you come across a champagne silver 91 AWD talon (me) on the QEW heading towards Niagara Falls last Saturday night?

Myself and a bunch of friends were heading home from the go-carts in Hamilton....if it was you how does my bumper look from a second place perspective?

It was a pretty quick ride home to the Falls though wink

Ian, gotta love those massive front brakes on the S4 eh? As a side note, I was able to break loose the tires yesterday. I went to change lanes because I was behind some old geezer, was in 2nd gear, punched it, and all of a sudden, the car felt a bit squirrely just for a moment. Then I saw the ESP light on the dash come on. I was surprised this would happen with Quattro. Mind you, I do have the snows on now, but they are high performance H-rated ones.

Vince, I think the roads were a bit wet, but it wasn't raining.

Ian, you've got more balls than I do. Those blown turbo stories scared me off. Then again, when I want a bit of power, I just hop in the Z06 laugh

Jeff...I wish!

Mark, the Beetle sig is just poking fun at PPG. I used to have '90 and '93 AWD Talons. They have since been retired. Now I have a '98 Audi A4 (wife's), '01 S4 (for winter duty), and '02 Z06. Gotta love this mild weather! The Z06 is doing overtime.

Holy BEEEJESUUUSSSSSS

How do you like the Z06, thats the car that I have been contemplating on getting when i graduate.

Either that or if the Lancer Evo comes to North American with an equivalency to that of the Japan version I might stick with the Turbo!!

Have you taking the Z06 to the track??? If so what are the numbers like?

oh and when are you taking me for a spin in the thing? wink laugh

The Z06 is simply awesome. I've only had it about a month, so it hasn't been to the track yet. I've barely broken it in yet. GM claimes 0-60 in 3.9 sec and 1/4 mile in 12.4@116mph. This month's issue of Car&Driver did 4.0 sec and 12.4. The next Z06 in 2005 should be amazing. Rumour has it it will be lighter (~2800 lbs), and have around 450 bhp. Hmmm, that might be just the time to trade mine in laugh
