I found an old thread,

http://www.ca.dsm.org/non-cgi/Forum2/HTML/001081.html

but there wasn't a great deal of information there as far as where to go and prices...

FYI Speedy wanted $880 to replace the entire system (mani back except for the cat) with a standard system.

Did you lose your turbo, George? It's TURBO-back! (:

You have a FWD. Go with the PaceSetter system, and then get a DP made up 2.5" to match it. Hi-Flo 2.5" catcon is optional.

Hey George,

Dont listen to Troy, he knows not what he says. [Linked Image]

The Pacesetter is an OK system but be prepared to replace it after several years of winters in Ottawa. In my opinon the muffler on that system looks like crap too.

I would go with a SS system custom built by a local muffler shop (Im sure there is a quality one up there) Shouldnt cost more than the 800 midas wants.

my 2 cents...

OK,
Troy, I deserved that for not hanging aboot the UBB for a while. After I posted I noticed that Speedy does custom work, so I asked how much for a press bent 2.5 turbo back. They came back with $420 taxes in with a superturbo. That's a lot more doable.
Christ this is how is starts isn't it? My clutch is just about toast, so I'll drop in an ACT, and well look at all that extra power that I can handle. Well geez, might as well pop a 16G and a fuel pump in there, install the Mike J thingy, crank the boost, new IC....sob, this car will never die will it. Hello 300 000km in 3 years, the car will still run great, but will be worth twice as much if the tank is full.

I can see my much-desired 328is slipping further and further into the future.

What's the skinny on the Pacesetter, do they have to be ordered, or will local places stock them? Do you know the approximate cost? If I remember correctly the Pacesetter is kind of noisy as well isn't it?

That's the one Bob had on his car. It wasn't bad for the noise, or even looks, but I didn't pay too much attention to it. His is finally rusting out, but you could prevent this by having it painted with a Stainless-type paint. I wouldn't go with the SuperTurbo Muffler. Ask them how much it would be for the DynoMax 17219 Race Magnum. It's Aluminized, Side-Center 2.5" oval straight-thru. If you can't afford Stainless.

A great site that shows all the DynoMax series is http://www.a-1performance.com/

And no, it doesn't stop. Ever. (:
