Well what can I say...this place is a joke. On the advice of a club member (who will remain nameless but you guys could figure out who he is) I went to this place and plunked down 650$ for a set of aftermarket struts and a front tower brace. Was told it would be 3 weeks tops until they arrived and could get them installed. That was on August 28. Havent heard from the "club member" and have only talked to the owner of the place once. Keeps saying that they'll be here. I last heard from him 2 weeks ago, every other time I call all I get is the answering machine and when I drive to the place its closed up. Ive left messages which arent returned. This is totally unaceptable. Im beginning to think my 650$ is a loss. For any of the locals, STAY AWAY!! Take your money elsewhere. As for the "club member" in question, if your reading this Id appreciate a contact from you. Im not going to forget/forgive this as I will collect my money somehow.

Sad...

But, the one thing EVERYONE can learn from this, is that there is NO reason to pay for anything upfront, no matter what some shop tells you.

If they don't want to order in parts to work on your car, it's not too likely that they're the best shop to deal with anyhow.

A decent shop, would be buying from reputable suppliers, and if you bailed on them, would have no trouble returning unused and unopened parts... thus, no up-front money should be required.

A decent shop, would also have enough of a clean credit history to either:
A. Order stuff on terms from the supplier.
B. Have enough cash flow to buy $500 worth of parts in advance.

Everyone read... and understand. Please...
Personally, I've seen this sort of thing happen to far too many people. In a hurry for the best price, or to support some local boy who promises the best of the best, for the cheapest possible.

You get what you pay for. frown

Rob seems to have fallen off the face of the earth. His cell # is down and I called where he was living at a few weeks ago and they had no idea where he went (and were looking to hear from him). confused

Well I have his first name only. Is there some kind of directory I can look at that has company names with their owners names, addresses of the business, phone number of the business, etc? Even if there is a fee to use it I'll give it a shot. That way at least I'll have his full name. Tried calling them again today, still no answer. bah

How does the shop look? Is it for real or some backyard child's play store? How many times have you gone there? Was it during normal working hours?

When I was there two weeks ago everything looked on the up and up. It looked exactly as it was when I paid for the struts. This is why I didnt get concerned until recently.

Sounds like the best recourse.

If there is ANYONE there, and it's clear that they don't intend to deliver, demand a refund, or offer to wait in their reception area, until the police arrive... and then actually call the police, if they don't cough up.

They gave me a great quote on an HKS turbo timer and I was going to do it after christmas, but I'm thinking that's not a good idea now.

I passed by the place last week and it didn't look like anyone was there. But it was 6:00 pm at night so I didn't think anything of it.

I'd honestly always wondered what that place was like, thanks for the heads up smile

And for anyone who go's by this place and notices that its open, page me @ 416-608-1207 and leave a 911 or something and I'll give this place a call right away. The pager is long distance but Id have no problem with reibursing the long distance charges.

Hope it's useful.

Trust be Bob, similar thoughts have crossed my mind. Luckily, common sense slapped me in the face and told me to deal with this the right way.
Going to give them another call today. Apparently they reopened yesterday. Guess I'll find out...

Chris buddy, we really need to organize a few guys together here and get this sorted out. I'll stop by on my way home from work again to take a peek in the windows and see what it looks like. But they were open (presumably for buisness) last week, but the doors were closed again this week.

I could have just walked in prior, though i'd feel rather dumb getting involved in a situation I know nothing about. But obviously they're not returning phone calls, their box is full (indicates all sorts of trouble normally), we need to get it squared away before they dissapear with your cash.

My suggestion would be to get in there at some point when they're open, ask for your money back, or if they won't pony up, take something else of the same value instead (not suggesting you steal it, ask), but don't leave (and bring several guys along for the show) until you either get cash in hand, or a product of similar value to you, or for sale, that you can recoup your money. A promise is worth a fart in the wind if they dissapear tommorow.

Paul

Who are you buddy? And why do you feel the need to repeat your post? We all saw it the first time you posted.

I have known ROB for a while now and I know well enough that there are 2 sided to every story. Rob doesn't sem like the guy that would rip anyone here off, or steel from an employer.

You come on here with pretty heavy accusations, if you can't back them up don't spread rumors.
