I did the mod properly, I know the wiring was perrfect, (i used to do auto electical for a living), and it seems to act as they said it would in the faq.
The thing is beyond lighting on start, or shut-off, it never lights, so far I have gone to 5k rpm in 1,2,3, gears and high revs in fourth.
Does it sound like my solnoid is hot or am I just really! lucky and have a car that doesn't knock?
Thanks Guys.

I recently did the knock sensor LED mod, too. And yeah, it never comes on except at startup and shutdown. This is good, cuz I'm using 94 octane and only 11 psi boost. Knock bad. You will get your LED to light up if you use low octane gas, run higher boost and hack your MAS to get a leaner mixture. What boost/octane/mods are you running? ------------------ Chris Andrews 92 Talon Tsi "...lost your groove? just boost-a move..." www.pinktemple.com/dsm

the LED is only there to warn you of Knock. Ideally you don't want to see it come on, therefore if it only comes on when you shut the car off (and briefly as you go to start your car), everything is fine ------------------ 93 Talon Tsi AWDsealed for freshness www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Street/1125/

With the MAF mod you should never see it except start up and shut down. If you do see it then beware cuz it's from real 'excessive knock'.

Doesn't it also give you some sort of 'pre MAF overrun' indication as well?
As I mentioned before, I won't be able to check again until my timing belt is fixed, but I don't think the LED has lit since winter started. It used to flash when I took it over 5000rpm under WOT, with no noticeable degrading of performance. I have 'no' way of knowing, though. I've also gutted out my knock sensor and refilled it with silicone.

The flashing over 5,000 rpm is from pre-fuel cut not knock. Once a certain airflow (not airmass) is seen the ECU will flash the BCS to reduce boost somewhat. With a modded MAF the airflow is reduced below that limit so the ECU should no longer flash the BCS.
The pre-fuel cut defense is only to flash the BCS and has no effect on timing... so if you don't have the BCS hooked up into your boost control system anymore then there will be no performance drop from this.

Ok so the short end of this is, mine never flashes except during startup ,and when I shut it off, untill the ecu turns off.
So I guess it is normal which is good, and answers my question, thanks guys.
