I've read a bit, they all talk about how
AWD and FWD are not compatible and so on but
can't really find about a turbo FWD tranny fitting in a non turbo FWD. I heard somewhere it does,
without modification, but then again i also heard turbo trannies have bigger flywheel or something... which is true?

The car is 93 Eagle Talon ESI btw

It's a good upgrade and yes it does work.
I'm not sure if you need the turbo flywheel/clutch though.

Pay attention to the year. They changed the splines for the differential side-gears somewhere in '92.
You will need a '91 or early '92 transmission.
A '90 will also work, but then there is some difference with the shifter/linkages you'll have to account for (IIRC, you'll need the brackets for the linkage from the '90 tranny, attached).

Yes, for the love of god pay attention to the year.

I got new CV Joints from Autoparts extra and the inner CV shaft was too small. I had to frankenstein my old inner spline onto my new axles.

While you're at it, pick yourself up Ziggy's LSD insert. Give you some more traction on those wheels!

A FWD turbo tranny would be much more reliable, and a good start towards a turbo conversion. You will need the Turbo flywheel/clutch assembly for this aswell.
DSM tranny's were improved upon every year, espesially in NOV 91 and up, they re-designed the syncro's for 1st to 4th.

Everyone says it works, but I tried it on my first non turbo car.

At first the guy sold me a turbo tranny by mistake, telling me it was non turbo tranny. The starter would not engage the flywheel, (just free wheeled)

I pulled it out and tried with the turbo flywheel and clutch and it still would not engage, I swapped out the starters and everthing to try to get it to go, but it would not fit. (starters have the same part number for non turbo and turbo)

I ended up driving the car by bump starting it for a couple of weeks and it did shift really good. But in the end, I had to find a non turbo tranny to put in it.

Apperently it works for other people, so you can give it a try Brinton, but I just wanted to share my experience. It was a major pain in the ass (mine was a 93 ES as well)

Randy, did you use a FWD or AWD flywheel?

Yes you NEED a FWD TURBO flywheel, they have a larger ring gear on them then the NT and AWD turbo flywheels...
I installed a Turbo FWD tranny on my nt when I did the turbo conversion.
Starters are the same.
You will also need that small tin spacer plate that goes inbetween the tranny and block. I forgot that piece and had to make one...
If you get a 90 tranny you will need the shifter base and cables also, they attach differently then the 91+'s
