A buddy of mine wants a cf hood for his ride. He got talking with these guys at www.seibon.com about a group buy. This is the info I got. These prices include shipping and are in Canadian funds.

OEM-style carbon fiber hood for 1995-1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse / Eagle Talon
$475

OEM-style carbon fiber hood for 1992-1994 Mitsubishi Eclipse / Eagle Talon
$500
They don't have any for the 1ga sorry guys.

There are different types of styles but each one is a different price let me know which one you want and I can find out the price. The link is above.

If I can get 10 orders then $50 off+free hood pins. I can get hoods for many type of other cars too don't have to be DSM.

Oh and the deadline for this group buy is 2 weeks from now which is Dec 23.

Has anyone dealt with this company before? The website shows them to be in Cali. You telling me for $500 canadian the will ship a hood half way across North America? WOW! I don't know about that. The hoods are huge and a bitch to ship, nevermind all the way from CA. (Red flag for too good a deal!)

(I would love to see some non-OEM types of hoods for a 1GB but they don't list any.)

THis is the OEM style, it does not look bad.
I agree that the price seems too good to be true, having said that I may be in on this [Linked Image]

I dont know why people seem to think $475US is NOT alot of money to buy and ship a NON-vis hood?! Has anybody spent some time on researching pricing and such? You`ll see this is nothing really special, except a few bucks cheaper than maybe non-groupbuy, but certainly nothing to be amazed at. You can get a 100% VIS-made oem hood for close to that price.

Dont forget everyone is getting hit with brokerage as well..

Somewhat interested. I wouldn't mind some more details. Who exactly is taking responsibility for the group buy? Or is it another one of those where if you get screwed, you're on your own. What is the expected delivery date? How are the hoods being shipped (UPS, USPS?) Can we get our dough back if the hoods aren't delivered by X date. Etc.
Not trying to be too cyncical because I like a deal just the next guy and appreciate knowing about it. But everyone that reads the group buy sagas knows how many of them turn out.

That said, while the price does seem a bit sketchy, I don't think the price is totally out of the ballpark with 2g's at $475CDN - 50 = $425CDN.

Here are a couple of comparisons for 2g OEM Seibon hoods:
Carbon Fibre Hoods (http://www.carbon-fiber-hoods.com/contents/en-us/d10.html)
About $499USD shipped to a commercial address ~$600CDN.

Alamo Motorsports (http://www.alamomotorsports.com/seibon/mitsubishihood.html)
About $416US shipped ~ $500CDN.

As for brokerage, see if you can get it shipped to some joint just across the border that, as a side business, receives stuff for Canadians and just bring it across yourself. [There are a number of places in Washington state that does this in the west.] I'm assuming there'd be no duty on it since I'm guessing the hoods are made in the US.

My concern was not so much the cost of the hood, thats reasonable. Its the fact that they include shipping from Cali to T.O.

And as always, I can almost promise that ANY group buy will leave you out in the cold if things go wrong...

Or shall I point out the IC pipes, the last CF hood deal or the SAFC group buy? There haven't been too many GB's that do save everyone money and go off without a hitch smile

By the way if you can read it is in CND FUNDS not 475US......so it's 475CND with 10 or more ppl it's 425CND with free hood pins....this price is for the OEM style hoods for 2g.

The product should be delivered within 2-3 weeks after the order date. It is being ship by seibon company to the business store of my friend. I will personally pick it up with a friend and we can discuss a most convenient place for a pick up.

I was just informed that this price includes all shipping but 7% gst of the price will have to be added upon pick up and shipping is by ground. I will pay for the 7% gst when i pick the hoods from my friends business then pay me when i deliver it to you.

I am in if we pay to the organizer the money
he gives them half and when all the hoods are here the get the other half..

I saw CF hood on Ebay for $199 us and $135 shipping to Canada, so this is not the greatest deal,, but I am sure someone here can vouch for the quality

OK! we have enough ppl to do the GB for the HOOD. For the people interested e-mail me with the year model and type/style of the hood you want so we can count you in. We do take half payment now and half payment when it arrives but i will have to get the other half before i pick it up from the shop but remember there is a 7% gst of the price which needs to be added on. once i get everyone who is interested we will set a date/time/place. How does the next dsm meet at mississauga sound??

i was just informed that since we have 10 and over the deadline has been cut to next week friday december 17 because people are eager to get their hoods. so please email me asap with all the info because i need to start collecting.

Its funny how everyone b!+ched about the last CF hood GB I did a GB for www.4g61t.org and we got out hoods in no time at all. The same place the same people. And their local and they have fantastic quality. We had tons of hoods get damaged in shipping like 1/3 where getting damaged some guys didn't get a good one until the second or third time around. I personally wouldn't want to get shipped a CF hood their a bit too fragile for that... Take it from someone who's been on that end of a CF hood GB.

I was one of the people in Tim's GB and i got a messed hood. There pretty fragile. I didn't get a new one though, there are manufacturer imperfections that couldnt be caused by me and the owner won't do anything to help me out....kinda pisses me off.

Well the last cf hood was picked up today (there were only 2 dsm members that got in the group buy). Seibon was back ordered on the dsm hoods and some others hoods so we went with VIS cf hoods and got them for the same price. So for the 2 members that got the hoods leave any feed back on what you think of the hoods and the service. Will probably do another groupbuy later on will keep you guys updated.

Hood is perfect! No scratches, dents or anything on it. Dave is a great guy to deal with and would buy from him again. It was an amazing price and glad i went ahead and got involved in this. I rescheduled a couples times on Dave, on when i was going to pick it up and he never had a problem at all with it.

Thanks again Dave!

ah so mike is the lucky guy with the 1g hood! i saw that piece man, very nice! not as nice as a 2g hood though bwahaha!

this group buy has been a very good experience. i know people were groaning it was another 'cf group buy' but this came through really well. when there was a delay in getting the hoods to us (because of manufacturer's problems. NOT organization) dave lost no time in getting hoods to us from another quality vendor. very good updates and i was well informed if prices changed and stuff. hoods came in brand spanking new with no unwanted surprises! will participate in these group buys again definitely, did i mention lots of savings? smile

Yeah those hoods were sweet looking. drool I like them so much I wanted to keep them. tongue
Well anyways I'm glad you guys like the hoods. And for those of you that were interested and backed out missed out on a really good price. Like I told Gary and Mike they got a really good deal at a really good time. I'm still kicking myself for not getting one as well. Because when I went to pick them up I was told that the price got raised, since spring is coming prices are going up. I will see what I can work out on prices. Once I got prices finalized I will start a cf hood groupbuy 2. Hope to get more then 2 members next time.
