I am in talks with the owner of the site about doing a group buy on t-shirts. I was thinking we could do a group buy on the standard logo shirt, which can be customized to display Club DSM Canada, instead of Orlando, etc.

Add your name to the list and tell me what shirt you prefer. I haven't asked yet but it is possible that he may do different styles of shirts in the same group purchase. I would have to gather the information about how many people are seriously interested and tell him what kinds of shirts we want, then I can get a confirmed price. So far he has said that the t-shirts will cost $16 each for 10, 20 @ $15 each, and so on. There may be a small charge for shipping and I am unsure if I would incur any duty charges, which I am still looking into.

Thanks to all those that are interested,

Adam

Just an update, Glenn has reccomended to me that we get the viynl logo printed on the shirt. The durability is much better than that of the transfer type. He is going do create a design for us and I will post it up for all to look at. He said its no problem getting different types of shirts and would make things alot easier to stick to one design.

Marc to keep costs down I would say stick with "Club DSM Canada", unless your willing to pay a couple of $ more I am sure I can make arrangments for you to get that logo.

Thanks guys

Edit: Marc are you saying you want 10-15 of those DSM quebec shirts? because that makes it much more possible then just one.

Also another note... Before I actually place the order I will need payment in advance. Once I can confirm some more pricing I will post what the exact costs are going to be. Another thing to note the hoodies are $30 (plus whatever shipping is going to be). When I get the grpahic I will post it and provide confirmed pricing.

Just for verification, is that $16/U.S. each, etc. Or are these actually in Canadian funds? And by "Standard Logo" do you mean the one that comes up on the site as "Large Front Vinyl Logo" or something else?

Ok guys this is what they put together for me. I am in no way a graphic designer guy so I had no idea what anyone would want. I think this is a great start. Please give me your feedback.

My personal feedback is I like the maple leaf but I think the DSM font would be cool in the genuine font used on the manufacturing labels found on our cars.

[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

Price for hoodies
- QTY 10 and under would be $30 each (US Funds)
- $29 each over 10
- $28 each over 20
- $26 each over 30

Price for T-shirts -
- Under 10 $17 each
- 20 @ $15 each
- 30 and up $14 each

Please note that the amount of shirts ordered by people will affect the divedened cost of shipping. One huge box of shirts which is roughly about 30-35 shirts would cost us $50 US for fedex ground. So I would divide this shipping cost by the amount of shirts so everyone pays equally. As for payment I will take full payment of the shirts in Canadian funds, then when I receive the shirts I will individually calculate the total shipping costs to get it to your door. ( I will include the portion of the shipping from the US in this cost as well). I dont want to take anyones money just yet until we all agree on the logo.

Also I have to confirm this but if the shirts themselves are made in the states we will not incur any duty fees. So I am hoping there not to be any hang ups here.

I look forward to getting some shirts and hearing some feedback!

Thanks,

Adam

We need a DSM car on it. Also Definetely get rid of the HTTP:// part. Everyone knows that obviously.

I still think we need a Car on it. Or a car on the back. Or car on the front and that logo on the back.

Just throwing out ideas.
Great job Adam.

I agree about the car and rid of the http. Although on the back might make it ore costly, so I would stick with the front only.

Keep it coming folks.

I agree with killing the http for sure, and also think we should stick to just the logo on the front of the shirt. Keeps cost down and still looks good.

Keep us updated with any revisions Grenon! Great job.

What's the costing on these?

ie: I must ask, on behalf of this non-profit club, that you not use our name, website, or any related logo, to make a personal profit off club members.

Past deals, have always included an element of club permission.
Plus, if profit motivated, those profits were shared with the club members, as an act of defraying our ongoing costs.

(the license plate frames, as one example)

Thoughts? smile

From what I understand, Adam isn't making any profit on these if that's what you meant Andrew. I remember him mentioning to me before that some ca.dsm.org clothing would be great and I know he was looking for a way to get it done.

I agree that supporting the club with these purchases would be good, but depending on how much money is tacked onto the shirts it may also kill sales, in turn killing any profit that the club might have seen. Any ideas on a way to make this work both ways? (Keep cheap shirts for the members and still get a profit for the club)

I think if even everyone chipped in $1-2 for each T-shirt and $2-3 for each hoddie to go to the club might be reasonable.

I'm in for one T-shirt - White [L]
Maybe a hoodie, but not sure yet.

I am inclined to agree....These shirts aren't like $4. WalMart shirts, so if you are going to pay around $15. or more for a Tshirt, what is another buck for the board? On a hoodie $2. sounds fair. I don't think that is enough to discourage sales, but it will add up if there is enough stuff sold! I would be down for a couple Tshirts, XXXL please smile

The original DSM font would be much better. The provided design is so hopelessly generic it could be used for anything, and it would not generate one iota of interest in others.

Screen printing and embroidery businesses are a dime a dozen. You will probably find several places in the GTA that can do the work much cheaper than importing them from the States. And most places here offer heavier 9 oz cotton shirts.

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but just want to point out that there are better options for our DSM community.

I will take a:
Polo shirt with DSM (as it comes)XL
Black T shirt XL-whatever we decide

I would get rid of the web address as mentioned. Keep the CLUB DSM-that they use font and tune down the CANADA part. What about a diamond star instead of the maple leaf. Not to be non-patriotic. Let me know where to pay and when once pricing confirmed.

I think Robert has a good idea...see if we can't get these locally (at least within Canada). I actually have my company shirts made at Marks Work Wearhouse, and they are a nice quality shirt, but they don't do the screen printing. They send them out for embroidery and that is a little more money, and wouldn't be suitable for this application....but there must be other Canadian options....

I am sure if there are a few bucks in it for the board, Andrew would provide the OK to use the logo, and maybe even an electronic copy of it. Otherwise, surely someone on here could do something with the logo..

I agree with the idea of having a picture of a dsm on the shirts. Just something as simple as the outline of one. I agree with having it designed locally. It will definately save money. I can have my girlfriend design a logo and we can post it to see what everybody thinks. I know somebody here in town that could do the shirts for us Adam.

With that said.... regardless of what happens I am in for:

1 - LG Black hoodie

I am definately cool with the idea of throwing in a couple of bucks for the board. Adam I could just give you the money at the college and pick the hoodie up from you there as well.

OK I am going to put this group buy on hold until I can properly organize something with a local company and have official permission to go ahead from Andrew. I didn't ask him in the beginning for permission which is my fault, truly it never crossed my mind as I wasn't intending to make any profit at all. I think that contributing to the club would be a great idea.

To those that have showed interest I am going to keep your names and what you wanted on record so we can pick up from where we left off.

Thanks for the support

Adam

Bah! smile
It's not my permission... it's everyone's! tongue

Hey, guys, Adam, thanks for the private messages, but I also never meant to imply anything either.

I was directed to the thread, to ask the question.

You've been abundantly clear now, and I'm very cool with it.

We've just had a few shysters come through here in the past, on the "logo clothing bandwagon", and I just wanted to make sure this wasn't another one. smile

Seems these guys, and their duffle bags of samples, are in almost every office these days, trying to push their products.

So, go ahead!

And yes, the Mark's Work Wearhouse T-Shirts, are very nice. I used them to do some PPG specific shirts, and they've held up well.

If you want embroidery, and don't get anywhere around here, let me know.
My sister in Windsor, has a programmable embroidery machine, and could do the job if we got stuck.

Last thought... Adam, if you do all the work, make sure all of your expenses are covered, and that YOU at least get a free shirt out of the deal, before you worry about sending money in for the club.
I think the guy doing all the leg work, should get that at least. smile

Hey guys.... what happened?
We're cool... let the purchase/arrangements continue. smile

It sounds like Adam is working on a good arrangement for everyone, and you should jump all over that.
We've had T-Shirts in the past (usually around shootout time), and over the years, mine are so worn out, that I think I want in too! smile

If we can get those pics back up (red Xs right now)...

I'll be likely interested in a few T-Shirts and a hoodie as well. I'll confirm once new arrangements have been made with pricing and a cutoff date or something.

I was asked to take the pics down by the person who made them as we aren't going to be doing business through them anymore.

If anyone has any designs they can come up with feel free to post it. I've also been sick the last few days and had no energy to look further into anything yet. I am looking to talk to Ryan still about getting a company here in Peterborough to do the shirts. As soon as I know what is happening I will let everyone know.

Adam, great that you are tackling this, and I am glad is has support from the board. My one word of advice...."QUALITY"!! Tons of places will get you CHEAP shirts..the promotional places will get them for you for peanuts..but I know I personally want a QUALITY shirt, and I think if we have people running around with the club logo on crappy shirts that shrink and fall apart, it makes the club look bad also! I would rather pay a few bucks more and get a GOOD product!!

thanks again for tackling this, and I am looking forward to the end product smile

I'm with Ziggy on quality. One of my concerns was that dsmclothing.com only offered 6 oz cotton t-shirts. Most places I have checked out before in the GTA offer 9 oz cotton.

Adam, here are some links you can use to compare the quotes you get in the Peterpatch to what is available in the GTA:

I'd be interested in a couple of shirts and hoodie as well once the deal is sorted out. Thanks.
