Well, although it was not as exciting as the VERY FIRST TIME at the strip, this was still exhilarating.

1st run: 16 something. Just not mentally prepared. Got in line and rushed through everything. Worse yet, lost to a 2G FWD with slicks. He ran a 14 but was disappointed since he says his car is a low 12 sec car.

2d run: 14.898. Yeah! I finally broke the 100 mph mark. These new mods (MAS Mod, added 2.5" flange to catback and installed 2.5" hi flo cat, ACT 2100 and SAFC) must be working. Still bad 60' times though (2.698). Don't laugh you AWD guys, remember I only have one wheel with traction.

3rd run: 60' time dropped to 2.4 and got a 14.227 at 103.62. NEW BEST TIME and HI terminal speed! I'm gunning for you Kinnaird. [Linked Image]

4th run: Thought I would finally make it to the elusive land of 13s. Alas, not to be though. 14.956 @ 101.27. I did beat a V8 Chevelle in the process so it wasn't so bad.

Hope you all have a great racing season.

Hi Joe,

I'm glad to see that you had fun at the track! You are easily a 13sec car (13.7x)! How much psi were you running? I guess you can practice your 60' times on the street against some Stangs! [Linked Image]

Hope to see you sometime this year.

It would seem I'm gunning for me, too!!!

So far, my results this year havn't been what I've wanted.. (are they ever..)

14.5's @ 103 at London, and now 14.0 @ 105 at Cayuga... Will I ever see a 13 again?? I KNEW I never should have gotten that helmet!! [Linked Image]

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

Andrew,

I was running my usual 15-16 lbs. However, I noticed that it would not hit the full boost until RPMs were exactly at or a little over 3K. I presume I need to install that UIC pipe to get quicker spooling time.

Thanks for saying I have a 13 sec car. You are probably right; however, since my driving skills are that of a 15+ driver, it all averages out to my 14 sec times [Linked Image].

Steve,

Well.... with your 14.0 this past Easter, I am within striking range for the Y2K racing season. However, given that you are still running the stock turbo and are quicker down the quarter, I really should not be talking [Linked Image] LOL. What boost are "you" running?

Thanks to all again who have aided and abbetted me to spend a ton of $ in this hobby. I can at least honestly hold my head up high whenever I see those middle modified old school V8s. BTW, that Chevelle had slicks. Okay quick someone talk me out of buying an AWD [Linked Image].

I hit 19, but it then drops down to 17 or so.. I have to work on my boost controller a bit (that, or my 14B is finally on its way out, and I'm heading for the land of the 16G!!).

As for talking you out of buying an AWD... look at the guy's face in the car beside you when you squeal the tires at 60 km/h!! OR, race a more heavily modded AWD on the highway.. I garauntee both will put a smile back on your face!! [Linked Image]

Ummmmmm.... Stevie boy.... who was that "race a heavily modified AWD on the highway..." directed at???

you better watch it buddy-boy, cause, ah, as you know there's a few other goodies left on the bench to go on my baby this summer and it's gonna make it harder for you to pull away [Linked Image]

And sorry Joe, I just can't say anything to sway you from not considering the purchase of an AWD.. [Linked Image]
this racing thing is FREAKING addictive, and after my horrible luck last season of serious mechanicals (and apparantly gaining Club wide recognition as the 'guy that broke stuff') and finishing the year saying that I couldn't subject the Talon (or my wallet) to another season at the strip, I'm back out running the 1320..

I will admit tho, you FWD guys need to know how to drive to get down the strip....however, us AWDers almost need to go thru astronaut training camp-> cause when the light goes green we're gonna LAUNCH!! [Linked Image]

LOL.. it wasn't directed at anyone in particular...

I'll be quiet about the trip to the track as long as you don't show anyone the movie footage of our head to head match!! (I'm still stinging from your launch!! [Linked Image] )
