I'm having trouble posting this wole thing so I'll break it up.

Well what a day [Linked Image]. I got there and was pissed cuz the wind was pretty much in our face (kinda across too) just like at the DSM vs Them event but not quite as strong.

Anyway I got all setup and went out for my first run. Heated the drag radials and got lined up. Lights went and I launched her hard... and to my delight she grabbed. There was some slippage and she pulled sideways a bit but it was a good launch (FWD). I slammed each gear and the run felt good. Damn maybe I beat my best of 13.83 on that one. Drove to pick up the slip and saw my pit crew (my brother) running up to meet me. Damn maybe it was a real good run. Get the slip.... 13.635 @104.1 [Linked Image]. WORD! What a way to start the day.

I go let the car cool down and give Rob Arpa a quick lesson on what to do at the lights for his virgin run then go to the rail to watch. Man oh man it was one of the funniest things I've seen [Linked Image]. The yellows start down and he jumps ahead. Then he stops [Linked Image]. Then he launchs and runs to the end for a fabulous 19.x run. We quickly picked up all our stuff and moved so he wouldn't come back and be seen with us [Linked Image] Just kidding. It was funny though. About a half hour later some big rig tranport (minus the trailer) goes down the 1/4 and beatsRobs time... he shot a 18.x. Talking aobut insult to injury [Linked Image].

Well as the day went on Rob got his feat wet and was getting some good runs in other then his launch. He was running 14.7~14.9 with 60fts of 2.4~2.6 (AWD). Soooo once he learns how to launch he should be low 14s [Linked Image].

Vince showed up later and showed us some of the slowest 16G runs we've seen (sorry man had to poke [Linked Image]). Gotta get and exhaust! Once there's some airflowing and you fix that knock sensor problem man you'll be good to go [Linked Image].

Fast forward to the final round of the colledge eliminations. It's me vs a 15.15 sec Camaro. I'm dialed in at 13.7 (much nicer then last time at 14.1) and ready to go. I throw a little intimidation at him before the race and it seemed to have worked. At the lights his reaction was a little off so I decide to win the race right there. I'd been hitting high .5x and low .6xs all day so I decided to go for a low .5x. My lights go and I give her hard... oh man great hookup [Linked Image]. She graabbed real damn hard... and just as I pass the tree I notice my red light [Linked Image]. Damn... I'm giving her and see what time I can get then. I decided to stay in 3rd to the line for the first time... man it's scary to run into the redline before the end of the track but I held fast. It was a good run and I got the slip... 13.65 @ 104.4 [Linked Image]. Yeah a new mph record to boot.

So I came in 2nd and got a great run even though I redlighted. All in all I was happy on the day... real happy. Car ran good (even popped the dipstick for the first time) and I'm getting real use to the drag
radials. All my 60fts were 2.1~2.2.

Before leaving I did a couple runs with the street tires (coopers) and the cat back on. Man what a difference. Both were around 14.3 @ 100. Well at least I know all that prep time is worth it now.

Good to see Lionel (sp?) and the boys out running 11s with thier CRX too. They had to bum a fire jacket to do any more runs after the first one.

Rob and Vince... I had a good time [Linked Image]. See you guys out there again sometime.

Hey guys...

Yeah, I met Mike and Rob there while I was riding around looking for a fire jacket (nice meeting you guys!). Luckily I found one, so I got to make a total of three passes [Linked Image]

The first was still the best, we were having suspension problems... The car pulls insanely to the left, off the line. I almost kissed the wall 3 out of 3 passes. Well, it was fun for sure, just in case anyone is interested, here's the numbers...

1st pass
60' - 1.7
ET - 11.63
MPH - 119

2nd pass - let off, came too close to the wall.
60' - 1.6
ET - 17.26
MPH - 77

3rd pass - missed 2nd and 3rd gear...
60' -1.6
ET - 12.1
MPH - 110

Not bad for an all motor CRX huh?

HAHAHAHA!! (not) to quote the "great" Homer Simpson

"It's funny because it's not me"

I'm sure that's what you and Rob were saying about my well tuned machine . Well Mike, I think I must be the slowest 16g car in DSM history. Shouldn't I get something for that?

I know I can't launch but I was expecting to be faster than that(and that time I went against you I had a 60' personal best of 2.2...I know still bad) . Next time I will be taking off the cat for sure, and I have to do something abut that knock sensor too. I thought all knocl led's acted that way [Linked Image] I just have to figure out how I am going to get a wrench in there withut taking off the intake manifold.

You had some nice runs though, I just got there as you ran your 13.6!!! and that transport truck was sweet. Let me know if you need help with the 16g install (when you get one) it's not that hard. But I don't know if you want me touching it I may give it the curse of high 14's...

Rob did you get that rad problem fixed yet.

Later

Hey Lionel!

"That's some sweet action!" (Kramer quote for the day!). Could you put up a few details on the car, by any chance? Very interesting stuff!

Hey guys i had a great time.. first time out at the track ever and i learnt alot.. especially Do not let clutch out till second yellow goes,, (duhhh) ..

Anyways the rad seems to be fine now.. not heating up at all.. i dont know why it was getting warm.. there is a switch right beside the lower rad hose that connects to the rad which determines when the rad is hot and when to turn on the fan... i haveto get in there and check it out.. but its like your delema Vince... im gonna haveto take out the 3" intake to test to see if it is faulty..

nice meeting you guys (Lionel and Vince)
hope to se you again on OCT 22.. ill be there for sure..

Sa-weeeeet!

Now THERE is a serious car! Very nice!

Yeah, I hear a FWD (especially one making that much jam) can be a real bear to drive. Are you running any sort of wheelie bar set-up? I suspect she's been on a dyno...how much are you puttin' down? What's she weigh? Any pics up on the web anywhere? Sorry for asking so many questions, Lionel...just find that sort of thing (ie. all motor) quite fascinating!
