This question pertains to those using a 20g or bigger turbo. What size injectors are you using? I'm using 550cc Lucas type injectors. Anyone know up to what amount of horsepower can the 550's accomodate enough fuel?

Well I'm using 720 on my big Garrett and the duty cycle dooesn't go above 84%.

Francois Villeneuve is still using 550's with his Frank 3, but the duty cycke is getting up there.

With a fuel pressure regulator 550s can see you into the mid 11s (ie. 400hp+ at the engine).

You're right. I bumped my base pressure to about 45-47psi and it's running MUCH BETTER!

Francois, I'm running a base of 40 psi. Buschur told me on race gas that I can run 36-38 psi. How did you know to bump base pressure to 45-47 psi? Has someone with experience told you to bump your pressure this high or did you just experiment with fuel pressure?

Well, 2G's base pressure is 41-44psi, so I just added a couple of psi more.

I did have to lean it a bit at idle and part throttle, but otherwise, it runs fine. And with the cool weather, I have the extra fuel needed to avoid running lean.

I think 1G's base pressure is much lower. So if you adjust your pressure too high from the recommended setting, your car might run poorly.

BTW, why did he told you to run less pressure with race gas?

I was told to set it to 40 psi at idle so as to make sure the car has more than enough fuel on pump gas (92 octane) to fend off detonation and running too lean. The race gas allows you to run much leaner, so I can drop fuel pressure a bit if I really want.

On the other hand, I ran a personal best yesterday at the track, 12.286 @ 113.451 MPH! I was quite happy with this as I did this on my second pass (keep in mind that I'm FWD!). I can smell 11's! But unfortunetly I couldn't make another pass as my SX fuel pressure regulator started leaking from the vacuum source that runs back into the intake manifold, causing the car to act/run funny. Going to send it off and get inspected by Essex Industries to see what's wrong with it.

WOW! That's excellent! It probably makes you one of the fastest DSM in Ontario!

Sorry to hear about that faulty FPR though!

I'm waiting for the next sunny and cool test and tune day at my local track. I'd be very, very happy with a 12.2x!!! I've been fighting with numerous issues all over the year, but now all seems to be good.

Just ran a 11.964 @ 117.648 MPH at Viking International Raceway in Gimli, Manitoba yesterday! And on my very last pass of the season...whew! Now...what to do to the car THIS winter....
