I have the stock suspension and i have a set of Dunlop SP8000's on the stock rims. I have noticed that on my back tires that they are eating away on the inside of the tire. I have lost all of the tread on the inside of the tire. it is cleary a camber problem but I thought that it would be back when my car was lowered, not when my car is stock ride height.

Hmmm, I've got a similar problem with my 90 Laser FWD. I thought it was due to an accident (rear ender)I had a year after I bought the car, and even though I maintain the tire pressures to spec and rotate the tires religiously they still wear on the inside. I have to take the tires off the rims and turn them around halfway through their life expectancy just to wear them evenly! I have seen some posts about camber adjusting kits but don't have any experience installing them myself.

Edwin,

Talk with Marco about modding the upper control arms, or do as some have as well and replace the UCAs with an adjustable one (ala heim joint) made for the DSM.

Marco worked his magic on mine early last year, and my tires wear evenly [Linked Image] thank gawd...just realize tho, that reducing rear camber will affect the way that the car handles thru the corners...after yesterday tho, I'm pleased as pie with -1.8

How much adjustability is there for these in the rear? How much does it cost? I want/will lower my car soon so I guess camber in the front and rear is pretty important

How do you like the SP8000's? I'm considering buying a set...

Have you modded your suspensions? My '90 had pretty weak springs/shocks after 160k kms or so...

well, I'm not sure of the overall figures, but I went from over -3deg in the rear to -1.8 (and have not had a problem with scrubbing off the inside of the tires since) On the front I have the 'standard' camber kit. I'm guessing that my car has been lowered somewhere in the neighbourhood of 2"

My AWD is lowered 2" and Marco did the same fix with the same results as Craig posted.

Troy, if you want tirefacts, go to www.tirerack.com and check out their comparisons.

Done, of course... but that tells me nothing about how they handle on DSM's.

They are pretty stick tires, but i guess I would be comparing them to my all seasons that were on my car last. When the tires are cold, they squeel when I enter a quick turn, but when they warm up, they are pretty sticky. they are pretty cheap tires too so I would say they are a pretty good deal.....
Also, the tread life is pretty good so I think they will last pretty long....
