Hey Sean, glad that you at least find your setup "acceptable". True the GC soln is the cheap way to go... the only time i hate it is when an unexpected bump suddenly appears on the horizon eek I think a lot of the stiffness comes from the AGX's also though... Just wanted to let you know though, those squeaks will (hopefully) dissappear in time. They did in my case for the most part (hmm, separated welds? lol)

As a side note for anyone else doing some coilovers, what i did the 2nd time (after trashing the gr2's and getting agx's) was use the plastic that came with the shocks as "strut protectors" or whatever you'd want to call it. It's great, keeps all the dirt out of the shock area, no more clogged allen keys, etc etc. My main worry was keeping sand/dust/dirt from ruining the seal on the agx's... them agx's are a bit more pricey than those crappy gr2's tongue

Matt

I forgot to mention that I replaced the standard retaining screws on the coilovers with stainless steel ones.

Ok I have been driving my car for over a month with 500f/350r G/C R/M sways,Koni sport, poly bushings and 18" rims and the ride is very nice, no squeaks rattles or anything. The shocks are adjusted to 3/4 full and the car is lowered about 1.3 inches,, I love the way the car handles/rides!!

It was easier back in the 'old days' when Ground Control was pretty much it. But now I've heard that the Ground Control setup is of lesser quality, and can rattle. I doubt that will be a problem for me since I don't plan on autocrossing or road racing. Darko mentioned that the GC setup lock screws also tend to sieze up, which is not what I want - I want to raise & lower the car according to season.

There are also kits from Buschur, DSS, B+G, and some outfit called Dropzone. Unfortunately since the main DSM archives went offline I haven't been able to research the spring rates and such as well as I would like. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has any experiences with these kits.
Have you looked into TEIN? I just installed some TEIN SS-P into my 1G AWD and I think they're pretty awesome. laugh

This post was started in Feb/03 (look at the dates). There were no Tein offerings at the time. Thanks anyway. wink

I like the in-car adjustability option of the Tein kit, though. I might be getting some extra money so who knows, I might get a set after all. There are times when I wish I could turn down the Ground Controls for my evening slog home and boost the stiffness for a little spirited cornering.

Why doesn't anyone make a speed-sensitive setup, anyway? God knows you don't need the same settings going over speedbumps at 10 km/h as when blasting through corners at 100 km/h.

I’m looking to get some opinions on coilovers for my 2G here since this thread looks to be dominated by 1G opinion. Just want good coilovers to drop my GSX since they come so jacked up, which also can offer a decent ride as well. Not looking to autocross or anything but wouldn’t mind something that handles well.

I’ve been looking at some of the packages on the Tein website. Very pricey. Just curious if anyone knows the difference between the Basic, Flex, SS and SS-P package? Here is the price list and information .

If any other 2G AWD owners have any testimonials on their coilover packages, please post. Thanks in advance! tu
