Hello,
I noticed that the 1g featured in Sport Compact Car for February has 245/40r17's. I was unaware that 245's can fit on a 1g. Does anyone have this tire size on their car? I would like to confirm fitment without modification and if 245/35r18's would be the correct size if I wanted to go with that width, and 18" wheels. Thanks.

I have 245/45/17's and they fit nicely. They just barely made it on my 2G FWD though. It depends on the rim offset too.

What is the correct offset for 245/40/17"s on a 1G?

According to the article on the 1g in Sport Compact Car, the wheels used for his 245/40zr17's were Volk Racing 17x8, with a 30mm offset. And they look awesome on the car.

I have 235/40/18's on my car (2g).. no rub problems.. i wouldn't go much wider though.. its very close to not clearing on the back upper control arms.
You can see pics on my webpage below

I have 245/35/17s and the back fit perfectly while the fronts rub a bit on the inside on hard cornering. However when I got them, they did shave a bit off the hub of the rim so they wouldnt stick out.

EDIT: Also I have at least an inch of fender gap and thats with it lowered 1.25" so an 18" size with that low of a profile should fit perfectly.
