Hey,

I ordered some wheels and tires off of tiretrends. What happened is they did not line the dots up with the valve stem's. Also they mounted three of the tires with the dot's on the outside and one on the inside. My question is what am I dealing with, my mechanic friend said they screwed my package up and they need to all be re-installed and balanced???

Can I get you're 2 cents worth!!!!

Steve

The dots on the tires dont' make that big of a difference as long as they were balanced properly. The DOT on the inside also won't hurt as long as your tires are pointing the right way, if they are directional or assymetrical...
I work part time at a tire shop so I have experience....

If the tire is balanced, then there is nothing to worry about.

OK people, heres one for you.I work for Michelin. If its a red dot a bit up the sidewall, not on the bead its probably a OE dot(original equipment).Without getting into it to heavy, tire manu. run some tires on road simulator and it finds light spot on the tire, hence the dot. Rim manu do the same and dot heavy spot, check new rims for dot.Put dots together and will balance out each other.OE goes to factories for new cars but alot still hit the replacment market. Its a old myth about valve stem,I always thought that when I worked in the garage also. Thats the short version of this..
